Where Sir Thomas Moore wrote his famous poem "The Sweet Vale of Avoca". Picturesque. Nice place for a picnic.

AVOCA VALLEY WALK An easy walk along this beautiful valley floor, following the flow of the Avoca River. The route follows a footpath alongside the road. With plenty of refreshments opportunities along the way and time for a stop in the beautiful Avoca Village, not to be missed. This is a linear walk and can be started at either end. Grade: Easy, the route is not marked but follows the main road. Distance: 7km Estimated time: 1 – 1.5 hrs Total height climbed: max 150m Highest point: 50m Terrain underfoot: Footpath. Suitable for: everyone Notes: This route follows a busy public road, please keep children safe

A stunning beauty spot close to the village of Avoca, that inspired the stunning poem 'Meeting of the Waters' by Thomas Moore : There is not in the wide world a valley so sweet As that vale in whose bosom the bright waters meet; Oh! the last rays of feeling and life must depart, Ere the bloom of that valley shall fade from my heart.

The Avonmore and Avonbeg rivers meet to form the Avoca River in the Vale of Avoca. This point is called the Meeting of the Waters and is a good access point for kayaking in the Avoca River. After a country walk, perhaps head for the Woodenbridge Hotel for a nice afternoon tea.
