Historic country house, gardens and cafe. You could walk here from the cottage. Just follow the river opposite the cottage downstream till you get to the road then follow the road. www.dalemain.com

Very old estate house and gardens. Medieval tea rooms and lovely grounds and setting including farming museum. On the way to Ullswater.
