We live in the Park and it’s full of wonderful hikes, beaches, and wildlife viewing opportunities.
A visit to this pristine national sanctuary is 18 miles away, about a 40 minute drive.
Point Reyes! Whats not to love? Norcal beaches (bring a sweatshirt). Oysters, Beer, Hiking, Whale Watching, Kayaking, Amazing Food, Local spots. P-Reyes has it all!

State / Provincial Park
“Forget the crowded mayhem of Muir Woods. Here's a beautiful stand of redwoods next to a quiet creek that locals love. Excellent spot for a picnic. It can get crowded on weekends (but NEVER like Muir Woods), so if you go on Saturday/Sunday, try to get there before noon. If you can, visit on a weekday and you'll have the place to yourself. There's a wonderful 5-mile walking/biking trail on the old railroad right-of-way. It's a state park, so you'll need to pay (per car) to enter.”

“Mt. Tam. The Sleeping Lady (see the photo). Marin's highest peak and a local favorite for mountain biking, hiking, and fishing. In summer, you can catch the Mountain Play in a 4,000-seat open-air amphitheater constructed in the 1930s by the Civilian Conservation Corps.”

“If the redwood grove of my backyard is not enough to satisfy you, go check out Muir Woods. A true national treasure with a hike for any skill set. Make a parking reservation well ahead of time! ”
