The best part about the J train is that it goes above ground until you get to Manhattan. It takes about 20-25 minutes to get to the city from the Halsey St train stop AND once you are in Manhattan you will be downtown by Essex St/Delancey St.

This is where the J subway stop is. Goes directly to downtown Manhattan and you can also transfer to many other subways along the way to go elsewhere within Manhattan
