The labyrinth of tunnels known as The Great Siege Tunnels are perhaps the most impressive defence system devised by man.
The Great Siege Tunnels in the British Overseas Territory of Gibraltar, also known as the Upper Galleries, are a series of tunnels inside the northern end of the Rock of Gibraltar. They were dug out from the solid limestone by the British during the Great Siege of Gibraltar of the late 18th century.
An impressive defence system devised by military engineers. Excavated during the Great Siege of 1779-83, these tunnels were hewn into the rock with the aid of the simplest of tools and gunpowder.
Great view over the airport and into Spain. There are also the tunnels to explore. If you time it right, you can watch the planes come into land/take off
