A picturesque easy-going trail along the River Rivelin, reaching Rivelin Dams and Wyming Brook. Perfect for hiking, trail running, and eventually getting out into the Peak District

A hidden Gem! The river Rivelin runs in the valley which is banked both sides by old trees, waterfalls, stepping stones, wildlife, and if you’re lucky, herons. You can find the Rivelin valley nature trail on Google maps

There are some great spots in our valley which you can walk to - go down the drive and cross the road onto the track immediately opposite. Walk down to the packhorse bridge, and once across it, bear right onto the nature trail. Walk 100 m down the side of the river for wild swimming. Walk to the end of the trail (about 5 miles) and get the tram from Malin Bridge into town if you fancy a country/city day. - Rivelin Craggs and the Needle - after the packhorse bridge turn left onto Rails Road - walk up the hill for about half a mile and turn left onto Woodbank Road - after about 400 metres take the footpath which forks off to the left (not the one where you have to climb over a wall), and then walk along for about a mile to the silver birch wood - bear right up the hill - the crags are hidden in the trees. - a number of roughly one hour long walks up the ancient woodlands behind the farm, along the crags or back down onto the nature trail. - for a good day hike (about ten miles), walk along the crags to Wyming Brook and then up to Stanage Pole, down over Stanage Edge (past North Lees Hall (mini stately home and inspiration for Thornfield Hall in Charlotte Bronte's Jane Eyre) into Hathersage. The get the 272 bus back into Sheffield city centre.
