Sugarite is just a short drive away. Used to be a mining town and still has evidence of the buildings. Several nice trails.

You have to go thru NM to get to it, but it's actually located in Colorado. I've heard quite a few stories of very good fishing at this park. Haven't gotten there myself yet for fishing, but I can say it's a beautiful park. Don't miss the beautiful view at the top of the trail that heads up the hill.

Lake Molloya is a short 10 minutes away for hiking, fishing, and kayaking.
