Day trip to historic site... picnic, learn a bit about St. Helena Island's past!
The Fort is a Spanish American War era Endicott fortification on Saint Helena Island near Beaufort, SC. Located on the shores of Port Royal Sound, an historic waterway of the Southeast Atlantic coast, Fort Fremont was active between 1898 and 1912. Just behind Fort Fremont is a beautiful little hidden gem of a beach, free to the public.
I like to visit this beach. I love it is a little out the way and I don’t have to deal with a crowd. I can just enjoy the scenery.
This is an interesting historical fort on the beach of Land's End in St Helena. This is also a nice beach with lovely homes. It is a great place for a walk. On the way back you may want to stop at the Penn Center. This was the first school for freed slaves. It is now a museum.
