If you are already on a stroll in this area Nyboder is a cute little sight. It's called the yellow city in the city and was originaly build for marine staff. They have a small museum that's open every Sunday from 11-14.

Nyboder was build by King Christian IV in 1631 for the Royal navy and their families. This part of Copenhagen is the first modern city planning and deviates from the Mediaval part by streets being straights as a ruler and especially Nyboder were meant to form partially a star structure similiar to Louix of France's Paris. Fun facts of Nyboder: At the time when the streets were named, the animals of each street were more than exotic and strange to the inhabitants of Danes. To reflect the illusion and imagination of these animals by the Dane at the time, walk to Kings Garden and have a look at the lions guarding Rosenborg or Borsen (stock exchange) and look up at the mixed creatures of dragons and crocodiles deceorating the tower.

Located in the former Naval barracks in Copenhagen, Nyboder is a row-house district and a major tourist attraction. Built with an aim to provide accommodation to the families of the rapidly growing Royal Danish Navy and their families, this housing district was first built by Christian IV. Originally painted in red and white, today these houses are referred to as "Nyboder Yellow" due to the different hues of yellow. Over the years, Nyboder has housed enlisted personnel of the Danish Navy, Army and Air Force but starting 2006, this housing was open to civilians as well. Attractions here include: Nyboder's Church, Edouard Suenson Memorial, and Christian IV statue. Near the Kings Garden and the Little Mermaid
