Free walking tours (donation suggested)! Literally, a hundred or so per week. Highly recommended if you're interested in learning about SF history or learning about the many neighborhoods in SF.

Tours are offered year round, times and dates vary by tour - see website for schedule. They offer walking tours of the Civic Center, the Tenderloin, the main library, and City Hall, free of charge.

Quality, reliable and free walking tours (with an optional donation at the end). No reservations are needed! My dad gives a tour about the mansions of Pacific Heights. He is just one of the 330 volunteer walking tour guides. Each of the City Guides prepare and study for years together. These tours are solid, informative, wonderful, and a very unique way to get to know this incredible City (and again at no charge). sfcityguides.org
