Beautifully kept trail out to the Bay. This trail is Family and Pet friendly. End of trail is great place to bird watch. This trail is great for strollers with the bigger tires. Lots of benches along the way to just relax on and enjoy the bird songs. Bathrooms at beginning of trailhead and half way to bay there’s portable toilets.

The Kilchis Point Reserve is approximately 200 acres along Tillamook Bay in Bay City, Oregon. The Tillamook County Pioneer Museum (TCPM) owns, protects, maintains, and holds this land in the public trust. Kilchis Point is home to a wide variety of plants (flora) and animals (fauna) that together form precious ecosystems. Declared a County Heritage Site by the Tillamook County Commissioners in 2010, Kilchis Point is an important prehistoric and historic site. Kilchis Point was the site of one of the largest permanent Native American villages on the Northern Oregon Coast. Tillamook County’s first pioneer settler, Joe Champion arrived at Kilchis Point in 1851 and was invited by Chief Kilchis to live in a spruce stump next to the Native American village while he built a cabin. The Morning Star of Tillamook was built at Kilchis Point, making it the first ship built in Tillamook County and the first ship registered in the Oregon Territory. Kilchis Point was also the headquarters of the Whitney Lumber Company from 1919-1927.
