  • Charming house in a beautiful little village, close to a number of main attractions. Had a very lovely, relaxing weekend! Perfect place to stay

  • Fantastic home in a beautiful place. Stayed here while working locally and would like to come back with my family as it’s so comfortable and endless things to explore locally. Highly recommend the book shop down the road with a vegan cafe hidden inside. Great walks and an incredible blue lagoon not far away. The house was perfectly prepared and was a great place to stay

    Jeremy2018-05-19T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely beautiful stay. Cottage is cosy and immaculate. Perfect location for exploring the peak. Thank you Lucy!

    Charl2017-07-16T00:00:00Z
  • Faultless. Everything from communication with Lucy to the comfort and cleanliness of the home was just perfect. Beautiful house in a beautiful village. If you stay here make sure you go to Arkwright’s stores for Derbyshire oatcakes but they do sell out quick. Also there are 4 drinking establishments in the village. The Boat - great food at reasonable prices. The Greyhound - posh but nice. The Bell Inn - real ales, single malts and gins. The Community Centre - pool and a good all round venue. Also definitely worth visiting Scarthin books, Masson Mill, Cromford Mill and Parky’s eatery does a fantastic breakfast worth every penny. Try the black pudding it’s like butter! Lucy’s place is the perfect base to explore Cromford and you will love it. All the best. Paul and Kim

A lovely, traditional little terraced cottage located high above Matlock Bath, with stunning views over the Derbyshire countryside. Pretty, comfortable and sympathetically furnished throughout, this Matlock Bath cottage is ideal for a small family or group of friends to enjoy the delights of this beautiful part of the Peak District.
Despite being only a few minutes from the centre of Matlock Bath, the cottage is on a tranquil terrace high above the bustle. It's warm in winter and cool in the summer. Despite being new to Airbnb, we have been letting this property to great reviews for over four years.
The immediate neighbourhood is quiet, but Matlock Bath is full of restaurants, cafes and bars. There are lots of things to do including taking the cable car up to the Heights of Abraham or walking along the river and canal or up in the hills. There are many other towns and villages close by such as Bakewell and Cromford.
  • Very comfortable stay. Quiet spot with great views. Homely feel with decent furniture and some beautiful artwork. Thanks

  • We spent a lovely weekend at Painters Cottage. We all thoroughly enjoyed it, especially the children! The communication was excellent throughout and Anne even let us stay a little later at check out. The hill is steep but we managed it, and we are from flat Norfolk! This is mentioned though before you book. We parked in the town, there is a car park at the bottom of the road and only cost £4 to £5 for the evening until 11am the next day. We have a rather large car and found it easier than going up the hill. The area is lovely and the cottage is in an excellent position to allow one to wander into matlock bath and we enjoyed some yummy fish and chips, a play in the park, a walk up the hill and some arcade fun!! We would highly recommend Painters Cottage and will stay again if in the area. Thank you.

  • Nice scenery and close to several points of interest. But kitchen is like the size of a toilet, so we've to put away the thought of making a feast in the house and have to eat out every evening. Dustbin and freezer are out in the shed. Also no allocated parking space.

    Soh2018-06-17T00:00:00Z
  • Everything you need. Beautiful views. A bit of a treck up the hill in hot weather but worth it

    Julie2018-09-03T00:00:00Z
  • What will blow you away is the amazing view from the house, including from the main bedroom: Great way to wake up in the morning! The house is cosy and has all the amenities one needs to have a carefree vacation. The location is not only great for the view, but well-centered in that you can easily visit many POIs, assuming you have a car. Even though you cannot park at the house, there's always a spot on Holme Road. Please do keep in mind, you need to be a bit fit: The way to the house is steep. Overall, highly recommended.

    Lilo2018-04-20T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful cottage, thoughtful host, amazing views. Close to the train station. 20% off Heights of Abraham with your train tickets.

    Sally2017-11-03T00:00:00Z
  • The house was in a perfect location to explore the peak district and also within walking distance to the amenities of Matlock Bath. Anne is a great host and we had a great stay - highly recommend this place

  • Fabulous place within Cromford and easy to reach other areas around the Peak district by car. No real issues with parking - no allocated space but always found a place to park. Great bookshop down the road complete with vegan cafe which we visited twice :-) Linda was a good host and was easy to reach by phone when we couldnt find the property! Thanks for a great stay.

    Rhiannon2018-05-28T00:00:00Z
  • My wife, 17 month old daughter and I stayed had a great three night stay at the Cottage in Cromford. The cottage was spotlessly clean, well equipped and very comfortable. Set in the middle of the lovely village of Cromford it was a great base for exploring the Peak District with a really nice local pub, an intriguing second hand book shop that has a great vegetarian cafe upstairs and a deli all within 150m of the cottage. Our daughter was especially fascinated with the swans and signets on the beautiful mill pond just down the road. We hope to be back before too long!

    John2016-06-03T00:00:00Z
  • Great place and location to stay, good selection of local shops and restaurants, plenty of room for a family of 4, the cottage was warm and cosy although parking was limited we never had any issues.

    Lillo2018-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed three nights at Linda's cottage. It was really nice there. Clean, cosy and perfect for our plans. We had everything we needed there. Also the communication with her was very good. Absolutely recommendable flat!

    Lisa2014-06-28T00:00:00Z
  • We spent the Easter holidays climbing and hiking in Peak District. The cottage is located conveniently within short drives of different crags, in an idyllic little town with some shops and pubs. It is clean, warm, quiet and neatly decorated. We enjoyed cooking meals in the well equipped kitchen, lighting the fireplace and using the washing machine to do outdoors laundry. Our stay was great and we highly recommend the cottage to all visitors!

    Maria2014-04-22T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful stay at the Cottage and thank Linda for having everything so nicely organised. The girls loved their rooms and the beds were very comfortable. We used the fireplace and went for short walks to the local book shop and pub. We hope to return one day.

    Jen2016-03-20T00:00:00Z
  • A gorgeous village and fantastic location. The internal stairs are very steep and need to be taken very carefully. The kitchen is bijou but everything was there we needed and it just meant only one of us could be in it at a (Website hidden by Airbnb) husband obviously...he he... The bed was super comfortable and as it was so quiet too we both slept wonderfully. As this is a very old cottage with small windows and thick walls it was a bit chilly, even in July...but it was lovely using the wood burner.

**Autumn 2018 update- I’ve put the dates on the photos for the Matlock Illuminations. Matlock Bath gets very pact with parking restricted so it’s ideal to stay here, park and walk 10-15 mins past the crowds and frustrated drivers!. It’s well worth a visit. For booking Autumn and Winter please note you have a log burner and it’s beautiful to visit. Lots of walks and festive events. Pubs have roaring fires, dogs welcome most places. (It’s what enticed me to the area as it’s a lovely time of year). Chatsworth Christmas house decor as well as Haddon Halls decor is a must. Also look out for Autumn and Christmas markets. Come and stay. You won’t be disappointed. (Maps and info and waking books all in the snug). Deborah. Please see video: (Website hidden by Airbnb) A very arty, historic, unique little space. Own entrance and full private use of your lounge/bed settee, kitchen/diner and shower/bathroom. Stocked kitchen ideal for cooking. So no need to buy everything. Please replace anything excessively used. Tea and coffee including fresh coffee. Hand blender. Pestle and mortar. Some herbs growing in the garden. Cottage (built 1740) is central village on the main road. Set in the heart of a beautiful quaint stone built UNESCO village full of shops, pubs, restaurants. No hill to climb as I’m right in the centre. No need to use your car if you want to explore the surroundings. Welcome to store bikes around the back. For yourself is the Lounge with bed settee Alexa tv with Netflix (use guest account), Amazon prime and iPlayer and log burner, full working kitchen with sink, new induction hob and oven with bistro table and chairs plus monks pew seat and a wet room/ shower with toilet and sink. Bed settee, brand new from Ikea and is clean and comfy. Bedding is put away underneath. Quick to get out. It’s huge. I’m not one for ironing but it’s all laundered immediately after each stay. Please note that I have the whole holiday cottage available for rent for larger families at school holiday times., however, by renting just the small snug, I can offer a cost effective stay to couples and single travellers. I live in the other side of the cottage myself but there will be little noise as the cottage has thick stone walls and I sleep on the 3rd floor. I have 2 little dogs who may on occasion bark if someone comes to the door, but I keep that to a minimum, and have sound proofed the adjoining locked door. My garden at back. Which you can share which is ideal for dogs and has a Moroccan gazebo, decking seating area, pizza oven (by request extra charge)and fire pit. This is located around the back of the property, down the drive. It is secure for dogs to play in. I will be in it most of the time with my dogs. You can pull up in the pavement outside to drop of luggage. Free parking is across the road also. I’ve had really good feedback with the snug but please note it is on the main road (but double glazing is good and your right in the hub of it all), the roads tend to quiet down in the evening and it’s quieter than Matlock a Bath. Autumn/ winter much quieter. I’ve had mostly 5 stars for cleanliness for the snug and its bedding which I spend a good deal of time on, however a someone who seem to want to find fault and appear to be ‘looking’ for any slight defect has spoilt 1 review, therefore if you know you are extreme in your cleanliness requirements and are wanting fine hotel quality, please leave that pressure to someone else. For the rest it’s all hot washed, clean and ready for lovely happy appreciate Airbnb guests who I will take pleasure in hosting and helping with any of your requirement.
Good public transport right outside, train station near by. Lots of shops, pubs restaurants on your doorstep. Cromford beautiful UNESCO village with canal and Historical mill and buildings. Lots of restaurants, pubs. An amazing butchers and deli right across the road. Convenience store. Paper shop. Postoffice. Chip shop. Antique shop. Cafes at the canal. The boat Pub has live bands every Friday. Right on the edge of the Peak District National Park. Matlock Bath 15 minute walk. ( Cromford is quieter and in my opinion has nicer pubs and restaurants). 20 minute drive to Chatsworth. Haddon hall. Live bands at the boat Pub every weekend. Thu night quiz. Great food. See Facebook. Barley Mo Bonsall a short 3 minute drive or steeper walk is the most quirkiest Pub I’ve ever known. My friend runs it, amazing bands every Saturday. Yearly hen race. Attracts a quirky eclectic crowd. Food fantastic. A real heart of the Peak village Pub and always a fantastic experience. (On Facebook too).
  • Deborah was a very welcoming host. Perfect place to stay for a weekend in the peaks. Cute dogs

    Gertrude2018-08-16T00:00:00Z
  • Deborah is an amazing host and her cosy place is wonderfully located in the middle of Cromford. It had everything we needed for a weekend away in the beautiful Derbyshire countryside!

    Fiona2018-07-29T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great stay at Deborah's place. The bed was comfy and the facilities excellent. There was a great shared space at the back of the building which we were welcome to use. Cromford was busier than we expected with quite a bit of holiday traffic (our fault for not doing our research) but it has a good selection of food shops and pubs and the excellent Scarthin Books nearby

    Martin2018-07-24T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful place, Deborah is a wonderful host and the area is fantastic. Would definitely stay here again.

    Chloe2018-06-10T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful place to stay, comfortable, well equipped and so close to the centre of Cromford. I had a lovely time and had the pleasure of meeting Deborah

    Ali2018-07-08T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful little place. Deborah was great. The cottage was really cute - very warm and the shower and oven etc all very good. We had the luxury of the drive way space for parking as well, not sure this is always available. Deborah was kind enough to do a last minute booking for us when another place has cancelled and she hadn't been expecting guests. The place was spotless despite this. Did result in us not having sheets for the pull out bed - but I'm sure that's not the norm! Thanks again Deborah.

    Siobhan2018-03-25T00:00:00Z
  • Stayed for the bank holiday weekend with my girlfriend and Deborah was so lovely, welcoming and accommodating with everything. The space is a great space for two people who want privacy with good kitchen facilities a lovely comfy pull out sofa bed and nice bathroom. It was a pleasure to stay here and we definitely will stay again in the future

Set in the beautiful wooded gorge of the River Derwent and surrounded by wooded hills and cliffs, the village of Cromford is famous for its connections with Sir Richard Arkwright and the cotton trade, and often referred to as the cradle of the Industrial Revolution. North Street is the earliest planned industrial housing in the world and the finest of its type, built in 1771 by Richard Arkwright to house the workers from his pioneering cotton mill. Surrounded by countryside, it is at the heart of a designated World Heritage Site. Cromford offers a selection of quality bistros, pubs, shops and cafés, as well as Arkwright’s Cromford Mill and canal. You can also enjoy a visit to nearby: Matlock where antique hunters can enjoy a range of interesting shops (3 miles) Matlock Bath where the cable cars of the Heights of Abraham will offer you a whole new perspective over the area, known to the Victorians as Little Switzerland (1 mile) Chatsworth House & Country Estate (10 miles) Bakewell, a charming market town and home of the Bakewell pudding! • Amazingly well-sited, cheap, and a lovely host. Plus you get chocolate bars with your kettle

  • If you are looking for a quiet, clean house which is also close to lovely Matlock,-this is it! This Airbnb is perfectly located for a stay in Matlock. Close to the main street, restaurants and attractions but very quietly tucked behind it. There is no street parking directly in front of it, but for long stays, permits might be purchased. Just a few minutes from the house is a large, secure station car park, with reasonable rates ( £1 overnight, and hourly rates during the day- which I thought were very reasonable) The room is large, with a comfortable bed, wardrobes, cosy armchair, and tea and coffee-making facilities plus biscuit snacks. Everything was clean and bright, including the shower and bathroom, and fluffy towels are supplied.

    Jeannette2018-07-01T00:00:00Z
  • I really enjoyed my stay and appreciated the hospitality. Chocolate was a really thoughtful touch. The fruit bowl was a good balance! Towels, linen and a dressing gown are provided. The shared spaces are immaculate. Excellent stay.

Easy walking distance from the centres of both Matlock Bath and Cromford. Ideally located for using public transport being on bus routes and close to Matlock and Cromford stations. Spacious for 2, very comfortable for 4, and will sleep 6 using a small bedroom with bunk beds (adult size). 2 bathrooms. Pets accepted.
Set back from the main road off a small lane and nestling into the hillside.
The cottage is listed for being in a conservation area, and is situated within the Derwent Valley Mills World Heritage Site. The cottage is within easy walking distance of shops, restaurants, pubs, and take-aways. Matlock Bath lies in a picturesque gorge, and in Victorian times the area was described as 'Little Switzerland'.
  • Small but cleverly arranged, cosy and quirky. Good communication with Judie, and she was kind enough to provide biscuits, milk and flowers for our arrival - and a Christmas tree, which was a nice touch! Beds were comfortable, and the cottage was well equipped with utensils etc. Guests with mobility difficulties should be aware that there are about 6 steps to access the cottage and 2 flights of stairs inside.

  • Lovely place to stay!

  • Its a really nice cottage. only problem for us was the parking. We did know about this but did not think it would be a problem. We were making lots of trips back to the cottage per day. I think if you were going out all day and only needing to park up once a day this would be fine.

    Debbie2018-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • Judie's cottage is a lovely place to stay with easy access to local attractions and days out. The house was perfect for 5 adults (if you're happy to use bunk beds!) and we found everything we needed. We arrived to a box of biscuits and card which was a thoughtful touch and there were flowers in several of the rooms. We enjoyed eating in the garden and making friends with the local cats! The decor of the house needs a bit of redoing but Judie acknowledges this and reflects it in the price. Overall it is a great cottage with all the necessary bits and bobs (WiFi, TV, well equipped kitchen, comfortable beds, information on the local area). We would recommend :)

    Naomi2018-07-19T00:00:00Z
  • Bluebell Cottage is in a perfect location, we didn't use our car at all during our stay! It's a cute little place and Judie is a considerate host.

    Colette2018-06-18T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely stay over Christmas. Found it easy to park at Masson Mill over the road and they kept the car park open for us on Christmas day. It is only around a 10 minute walk into Cromford. A very family friendly area.

    Faye2017-12-27T00:00:00Z
  • As soon as we arrived we felt at home in the cottage, it was so welcoming. We ventured up the steps at the front into the woods for several circular walks which were great for our two dogs. The location is perfect for exploring the local landscape. Including following the river down to Cromford Mill and the canal. It's a great starting place for lots of adventures in the Peak District, and the house has everything you need to feel right at home.

A unique opportunity to stay in one of Derbyshire’s historic country homes; Riber Hall Manor. Riber Hall dates from the 1400’s. This beautifully restored Elizabethan manor house is situated in Riber, a tiny hamlet in the Derbyshire Dales. It is alleged Mary Queen of Scots was detained in Riber Hall. In 1724, the hall was split it into two halves. Here is your opportunity to stay in the hidden secret side of Riber Hall with its deep history and authentic English country charm.
The hidden secret of Riber Hall Manor. Built by the Ribergh family, this Grade II* listed Elizabethan manor house was home to the famous Derbyshire Wolley family until 1668. During the Civil War, Riber Hall was a royalist stronghold and it is rumoured that a secret passageway exists from the hall to Dethick where the Babington’s lived. Anthony Babington was an English nobleman who was convicted of plotting the assassination of Elizabeth 1st of England and conspiring with the imprisoned Mary, Queen of Scots. It is alleged Mary Queen of Scots was detained in Riber Hall and indeed one of our bedrooms would suggest this. By 1724, the hall was owned by the Chappel family and two sisters divided the hall and split it into two halves. One half of this romantic home was previously known as a highly regarded country house hotel. Meanwhile, the other untouched side seems to have been forgotten over the years, until now. Here is your opportunity to stay in the hidden secret side of Riber Hall with authentic and fascinating English country charm, plus a deep history that we love to share with our guests. Riber is a hamlet in the Derbyshire Dales, situated high on a hill overlooking Matlock; boasting some of the most dramatic views in Derbyshire.
Riber is a tiny hamlet, just two miles from the spa town of Matlock, 5 minutes by car from Cromford and Matlock Bath. Local attractions include Gullivers Kingdom, The Heights of Abraham, Chatsworth House (home to the Duke and Duchess of Devonshire) and Haddon Hall. Bakewell and Ashbourne are both a short car journey away.
  • Great place to stay. The room was lovely, the building full of history and in a great location to explore the picturesque surroundings. Alison was very friendly and her husband made fantastic scrambled eggs on toast. Will definitely return.

    Ben2018-05-13T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely stay! Alison and her husband were delightful hosts who offered so many interesting facts and stories about the house, as well as great tips for places to eat nearby and things to see and do in the area. It was a wonderful opportunity to stay in an amazing house which has been taken care of by people who obviously love it. It was definitely an interesting and cosy stop-over.

    Monika2017-10-03T00:00:00Z
  • I sent my parents here for a 50th birthday present and they sang Alison’s praises. Alison told them interesting stories about the building and the local area and was kind enough to find them when they got lost on arrival. The room was big and spacious and they really enjoyed their stay. Alison responded really quickly in relation to any queries I had and was overall very helpful x

    Rosie2018-05-27T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful stay at Alison’s - a great room in a lovely house and a beautiful location. We only wish we had stayed longer!

    Augusta2018-06-02T00:00:00Z
  • Alison was a very gracious and thoughtful host, and Riber Hall was a fantastically atmospheric place to stay! Alison helped us find it and even waited outside so that we knew where to park, and her husband made us a wonderful English breakfast in the morning. It was Easter so she even gave us a bunny shaped chocolate!

    Justin2018-03-30T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely quiet place to stay, ideal for exploring the Dales. Beautiful Manor House full of history. Hosts are very welcoming and knowledgable of the area. Ideal for couples.

    Sheena2018-04-25T00:00:00Z
  • this is one of the best airbnbs we've stayed in and we've stayed in lots. It's really special and we will be recommending it to all our friends.

    Isolde2018-07-21T00:00:00Z
  • Enchanting! Riber Hall should be a well-kept secret, but that would not be fair on its owners, Alison and Nick, who made us feel very welcome in their beautiful home. The private suite is huge, with a big comfortable bed and tastefully decorated, in keeping with the age of the property. The house is historic, atmospheric and absolutely charming! If you like history, peace and quiet and stunning scenery, then this is the place to stay. The breakfast is delicious and includes locally sourced bacon and sausages. Alison and Nick are wonderful hosts and we would love to stay with them again.

  • The cottage is found in the village of cromford. This is a great spot close to the peak district and to the lovely matlock bath. The cottage was beautifully clean, and we were left some beatiful little touches which made us feel so welcome! The cottage is very well equipped and had everything we could have ever needed for our stay! The wood burner was perfect on this cold and rainy November weekend.

  • I would definitely recommend a stay at Toodles cottage, it's beautiful base to explore the surrounding Peak District. Although we didn't personally meet Anya, communication was great and she made sure we had everything we needed and more. The cottage was beautiful decorated and very clean. The back garden is also an extra bonus with lovely views of the surrounding location. Overall we very much enjoyed our stay, and definitely the best air bnb place I have stayed in so far :)

    Sharna2016-05-16T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great break at Toodles Cottage over the October half term— it was a lovely home from home. It's a charming, well maintained cottage and is also well located to get to all the good sights the Peak District has to offer. A recommended stay!

    Guy2015-10-31T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely cottage. Well presented with thoughtful touches throughout. We really enjoyed our cosy and comfortable stay.

    Hannah2018-03-18T00:00:00Z
  • A restful, beautifully presented home that gave way to a delightful stay. A real treat is the 3 tier level garden that affords breath taking views of the surrounding hills.

  • Cromford cottage is completely equipped for a break away. You won't need to bring anything with you as everything is provided

    Matthew2018-02-18T00:00:00Z
  • We had a fantastic stay at Toodles Cottage. It is conveniently situated for the Peak District and Cromford is a lovely village with friendly locals. The cottage is perfect: everything is provided for a comfortable stay, including blankets for the sofa, logs for the fire, slippers, sweets - so thoughtful. The beds were super comfy and we slept like logs! Anya was kind and courteous host and let us have a lie in on our last day as there were no visitors that day. All in all, we had a great visit. Thank you, Anya. We would live to return!!

    Helen2016-04-09T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage is absolutely beautiful, and the hosts were so easy to deal with throughout the process and even afterwards to check if we had a good time. They left lovely little gifts and essentials which made us feel really welcome. The surrounding area is beautiful with plenty to see and a short walk to Matlock and Matlock Bath. The highlight for me was the log burning fire. Plenty of wood was left to make lovely cosy fires, there was even a fire ready to be lit when we arrived, which was a really nice touch. Couldn't recommend it highly enough. A perfect New Year's Eve.

Pretty little brick built victorian cottage, on the edge of Cromford, 5 minutes drive from the Peak Park
2 bedrooms, 1 double & 1 with a bunk & further trundle single bed. Huge bathroom with fire place, lounge, smart TV & DVD player, wi-fi, fully kitted out kitchen with washer/dryer, microwave, welsh dresser, dining table & larder. Although there are fireplaces, please note these are not working! Back courtyard with plants, table & chairs & chiminea House can be accessed from either the front door, or via the back (which is our preferred door!) Available on request: high chair travel cot stair gate All bedding is included but please note you will need to provide towels.
Cromford is a pretty village, several very good pubs & restaurants serving food & often have evening entertainment, local food shop & butchers. A number of individual shops can also be found, including the famous Scarthin bookshop, which also serves tea, coffee & food in a cafe hidden behind a bookcase. Cromford also has a canal, where trips on barges can be taken, there is also the Arkwright Mills to visit. There are mill ponds through the village, we are opposite one of them and the biggest can be found behind the Greyhound hotel & pub. Close by is the old railway that is now a lovely walk and over the road from us, you can access the nature reserve as well. Nearby can be found Matlock Bath & Wirksworth.
  • Lovely place, very clean & tidy. Everything you could possibly want to use in the kitchen. Really thoughtful touches & pleasant surroundings. I would definitely stay again.

  • Great place for kids and dogs. Had a lovely time. Cupboards were well stocked with all the essentials and more.

  • Loads of rooms, two bathrooms and a huge dining room table. Great for a bunch of us who get together once and awhile. With a pub, a cafe and an Indian restaurant less than a minutes walk it was ideally situated, yet off the Promenade so still quiet. Great communication from Angie who left, towels, shampoos and soaps, bread , milk and fresh fruit for us. Thanks!

    Evan2017-04-02T00:00:00Z
  • Brilliant, thanks so much. Was perfect for what we needed!

  • Lovely big house for our family gathering. Struggled at times to find parking.

  • The old police house was perfect for our holiday to the Peak District. We were a group of 8 and the place was really spacious - bigger than what it looks like in the photos. We could all sit round the dining table and on the sofas in the living room very comfortably. A highlight was our super comfy bed, we had very good nights sleep after long walks in the peaks! There are two bathrooms (one shower/bath and one bath) which is also helpful for a big group. The kitchen is very well stocked for cooking for a large group and there is a dishwasher too which is super convenient. Angela was a perfect host - very easy to communicate with, she sent a helpful welcome letter and checked in with us to see if everything was ok. She also left fresh fruit, milk and tea which was a lovely treat. Matlock Bath is a nice little place and a good location for walking in the peaks. Most days we did a short drive to a location for a walk, but you can also set off from your doorstep. Would absolutely recommend!

    Simona2017-05-21T00:00:00Z
  • Angela was a great host. The house was spacious and perfect for my family and I. It was a pleasure to stay in Matlock Bath.

    Yzela2017-06-15T00:00:00Z
  • Large spacious accommodation with good bedrooms but tired decor and fittings. Upstairs perfectly fine and clean downstairs tired and a little messy. Host extremely responsive and pleasure to deal with. Bad points were kitchen crockery was dirty, door was insecure as the Yale lock was barely attached so we were concerned about security especially with our valuables and children in house. Great area and nice and central for exploring. With a bit of updating and cleanliness which may be attributed to previous guests, it would be a great trip. Just don't expect parking nearby always.

  • Had a great stay as this wonderfully quiet and tucked out of the way and yet conveniently placed (for the Peak District) cliff location. The access to the property is via a charming walk passed numerous houses huddled on the edge of a very steep gorge, stone steps and little walk ways with gates past dozens of flowers and cottages - very charming. Had a great stay, Tracey was very patient with the terrible time-keeping and the place was a comfortable and welcoming base. Will happily return.

  • Enjoyed a great three night break at the cottage for three adults and a golden retriever. We found the cottage had everything we wanted, in a very good location, as per description. In particular we loved the cliff views from lounge and front bedroom. We walked every day and found easy access to some very good walks direct from cottage, lots of info on walks which was invaluable. Definitely recommended for great dog friendly holiday.

Ranmoor was lovingly restored by its current owners in 2017. Situated in the heart of Matlock Bath with fabulous views, the cottage has a wealth of original features including a cosy log burner. The cottage is furnished with an eclectic mix of contemporary, vintage and antique French furniture with a luxury bathroom. There are 3 bedrooms and an additional downstairs shower room and WC. Outside there is a lovely walled cottage garden and gravelled courtyard. Linen and towels are provided.
The cottage kitchen has an integrated washing machine, dishwasher, fan oven, hob and fridge. There is a microwave, toaster, kettle and coffee machine. The spacious kitchen diner has an original quarry tiled floor and a cosy vintage log burner. There is a downstairs WC/shower room with a ‘rain shower’. The sitting room has wonderful views across the river Derwent and valley. It has a lovely Chesterfield sofa, armchairs, a fireplace and a 40 inch Freesat TV and DVD player. Bedroom 1 has a French antique king size bed with a matching armoire. Bedroom 2 has a French double bed. Bedroom 3 has bunk beds these are full size single however it is recommended the top bunk is only used by children or a small adult. The bathroom has a luxurious freestanding bath with freestanding taps. Outside there is a lovely cottage garden with a secure brick bike store. *Enjoy the beautiful Venetian Nights firework display from the garden every Saturday evening throughout September/October.
Matlock Bath is a unique village with something for everyone including stunning scenery, beautiful walks and cycle rides, cable cars, canoeing, rock climbing, a theme park a great mix of pubs, restaurants and cafes. - Matlock Bath is a small spa town in the Peak District, fortunately prohibited in growth by the steeply wooded limestone cliffs forged by the River Derwent. Thermal springs discovered in the late 17th century led to the growth of the village as a health resort. These days the town attracts many visitors but probably most famously to its dramatic cable car ride which spans the hugely picturesque valley nearby our property and is known as The Heights of Abraham'. The home could not be better situated to access the treasures of the Peak Park with the country houses of Chatsworth, Haddon, Hardwick, Tissington and Bolsover Castle all within a 20 minute drive. Further market towns of Bakewell, Ashbourne, and Wirksworth are within a short drive. The A6 which runs through the valley provides swift access to the A38 and the motorway networks with a national rail hub in Derby. Matlock Bath train station is a 10 minute walk away with hourly services to Derby and Nottingham.
  • The house is stunning. We were met on arrival by the hosts who have been nothing but really helpful and punctual with all their communication. The house looks understated from the road. You have to walk down a few steepish steps to the front door so may not be ideal for those with mobility issues. The hill that the house is on is also steep but those with normal fitness will be fine. The interior is beautiful with an open kitchen space with real log fire and comfy lounge with stunning views. The bedrooms were all comfy and there are even toys in the children's room which were all neatly tidied away. The hosts even treated us to a bottle of wine and some local shortbread. Nothing but positives to say about the hosts and accommodation. Thank you

    Stuart2018-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • The views are stunning in the garden and Petra was a great host, a pleasure to communicate with.

    Sam2018-06-10T00:00:00Z
  • Petra is an amazing host who responds to messages quickly which was much appreciated in the lead up to our stay. The house was lovely, sparkling clean and in a beautiful location. We had everything we needed in the house as well as nice little treats left for us including a bottle of Prosecco which was much needed after a stressful week so thank you for that Petra! Would definitely recommend this house to others and would more than happily stay here again if in the area.

    Leanne2018-07-28T00:00:00Z
  • We had an absolutely amazing time staying here! Petra was lovely and so helpful. When we arrived there was a bottle of prosecco and cupcakes left for us which was a really nice and unexpected surprise! The house is so beautiful and the garden with the decking was great in the sunshine. Don’t have anything negative to say about this place at all :) Thanks again Petra!

  • We had an amazing time at ranmoor! The house is beautiful and wonderfully kept, Petra even had some prosecco and cake for us on arrival. The house is perfectly placed to visit the heights of Abraham and the theme park gullivers kingdom. We would thoroughly recommend ranmoor and lived our first visit to the Peak District!

    Camilla2018-04-10T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed a week in Petra's place with 3 friends and had a great time. The cottage is comfortable and very well placed, a short walk to the main street, although somewhat steep in parts. We all enjoyed the outdoor settings in the garden for relaxing, reading and enjoying the country scenery. Petra was most helpful with information on local attractions. There are many beautiful gardens in the area to see, and history to absorb.

There is a pub right at the bottom of the access path. Cromford has two fish and chip shops, two pubs, a restaurant, a couple of cafe's etc. Is within walking distance of Masson Mills, a shopping outlet, and a mile and a half walk to Matlock Bath, which has a kind of inland resort feel to it (arcades, rowing boats, cable car etc). Cromford is within a World Heritage Site, with its mill growing increasingly popular over the years as a visitor attraction.
  • Annette and Colin's cottage is absolutely wonderful and it really boosted our country-side holiday feeling. Cromford is a lovely village where you find everything you need: restaurants, pubs, an amazing book shop, and great walks just out of the door step. Annette and Colin try their best to make their hosts feel confortable and prepare all sort of tips to make you feel at home. We are happy they agreed to share their house with us for a couple of days and will definetely contact them again on our next time in the Peaks!

  • This cottage is lovely, with all of the basics you could require. We stayed for several nights, and enjoyed our time in Derbyshire immensely.

    Victoria2017-04-04T00:00:00Z
  • Lots of info provided, lovely place to stay.

  • Reasonably basic but charming accommodation in an excellent location for exploring the Peak District. Good pub close by. We would go there again and recommend to others. However, you need to be reasonably mobile to walk up the steep path to the property and to get your suitcases up the narrow, steep stairs to the bedroom.

    Nick2017-05-26T00:00:00Z
  • In a lovely location - high above the town with fabulous views. It's cozy and cute, all the amenities there and warm. Very steep stairs inside but they were ok for us. The town is lovely, there's lots of lovely pubs plus The Greyhound hotel - newly renovated and great beer and food (but hotel prices!). The only downside for this place is the lack of allocated parking and the steep pathway up to the house but these are only major issues when arriving and leaving. Parking in the peak season could be a real issue though ...

    Neil2017-05-13T00:00:00Z
  • It was a gorgeous little cottage, high up, with an incredibly pretty view, and a great pub The Boat really close by. Cromford has a wealth of history, the mill complex is brilliant, and there's a nice canal walk nearby.

  • We loved staying at Scarthin View, a perfect cosy and well equipped cottage from which to explore the beautiful Peak District. Very peaceful but only seconds from the hub of the village. We didn’t want to leave, many thanks Colin and Annette.

Situated in the Derwent Valley at the Cromford end of Matlock Bath, this area has much to offer and really is the gateway to the Peak District. Numerous places to visit & footpaths to walk this classy luxury penthouse apartment is an ideal base to explore the area. Parking across the road.
Although this is a penthouse apartment there is only a very short flight of stairs from the front door to the top floor of this old school house. From the open plan kitchen & living area huge velux windows open right up to expose the craggy rocks rising up over the Derwent River & Valley where the gentle ripple of the weir will soothe the spirits. Spacious open plan kitchen, dining & living with bamboo flooring with huge corner sofa, TV, books, puzzles & games for your enjoyment. Free wifi. Brand new kitchen with appliances including dishwasher, fridge, freezer & washing machine. Two bedrooms with king size beds & Egyptian cotton linen. Sleeps 4. Bathroom with shower and corner bath. All newly carpeted.
The Penthouse is situated at the Cromford end of Matlock Bath, in walking distance via the Masson Mills & along the river Derwent. Cromford is a pretty little town, home to Cromford Mills & canal, an excellent butcher & baker, deli & grocer & hardware shop with antiques, the fabulous Greyhound hotel bar & restaurant, pubs, restaurants & cafes. Lively Matlock Bath is also walking distance, host to bars, restaurants, cafes & numerous fish & chips shops. Home to the Heights of Abraham, Gulliver's Kingdom, the beautiful Lovers' Walk & Derwent Gardens & many, many more attractions.

  • Would recommend this penthouse to anyone. The host is so great at communicating and tells you everything you need to know. The area is beautiful and the penthouse is spot on. Try here if you want somewhere relaxed, home from home and it's not far from the main attractions of Matlock Bath

  • Lovely modern and light space. Great location and perfect for a short break for my family of 3. Anna- louise was always contactable and an extremely helpful host.

  • Wow, what a gem of a little place this is. Very centrally situated with plenty to do in the area. The apartment has a quaintness about it being an old school house. It is very light, airy and deceptively spacious. The beds were extremely comfortable and the kitchen very easy to work in. Louise was extremely kind and a pluming problem was addressed IMMEDIATELY. We had a wonderful stay, just too short. It’s unlikely we will be in the area again, but if we ever were to be I know exactly where I would like to stay!

Our home is good for couples, groups of friends, solo adventurers, and business travellers.
Lime Cottage is a Cosy but contemporary space to rest, relax, explore from and feel like home in. Our cottage is up approximately 49 steps so not for the very very unfit or those with limited ability, but once you're up there the view over to the impressive High Tor opposite and the River Derwent is worth it. You can sit and watch the river rafters, canoeing or spot the odd absailer descending the cliffs opposite from either of the patios. Lime Cottage is in a perfect position right in the middle of Matlock Bath and Matlock. A 5-10 min walk either way. The Heights of Abraham with its cable car ride and Matlock Bath town and station are a 5 min walk away with an excellent choice of pubs, coffee shops, restaurants, chocolate shops and walks. Matlock town centre is a 10 min stroll the other way again with an abundance of upmarket eateries, vintage antique shops, markets and local independent boutiques. People who love walking and the outdoors are spoilt for choice. There are numerous walks which vary in difficulty, from the gentle amble to the strenuous trail. Other activities close by are climbing, canoeing, (with the main canoe launch immediately below the cottage) sight seeing, historic places to visit and Gullivers Kingdom for children. Or you can just relax and watch the absailers descending down the cliff opposite, listen to the birds, read or relax from the cottage patio whilst enjoying a coffee or something stronger! Here just a few of the local attractions that you may wish to visit and see during your stay. The Heights of Abraham with its breathtaking views and coffee shop at the top. Lumsdale valley with its history and natural beauty Cromford canal for a lovely relaxing walk Crich Tramway Village for a step back in time Gullivers Kingdom for the children Chatsworth house for a bit of grandeur and glamour Bakewell town for the odd tart The Peak valley steam railway. Here is hyperlink for anymore information or reviews you may need to read. (URL HIDDEN)
This area has so much to do and see! • Really lovely stay in beautiful cosy house. Came for my mums birthday and there was a bottle of prosecco to greet us. Lots of fish and chip shops and restaurants 5/10min walk from the house. Also went to the heights of Abraham on the cable cars followed by a 5mile walk, all really easy to do from the house. Clean and cosy and everything you need. Thanks Fiona!

  • Great place to stay for touring the Peaks District, or taking advantage of the tourist attractions nearby. We stayed during peak tourist season, and didn’t realize the road below would be so busy and loud until after dark. That it was unusually hot during our stay, and we had to keep the windows open at night, didn’t help. Otherwise it was as we expected. Communication was great, and the bottle of Prosecco waiting for us was a nice touch!

    Eric2018-07-26T00:00:00Z

  • Superb. Great cozy house in a lovely area. Used for a get together with old friends. House had everything required for hosting / cooking / socialising and had a cozy feel. Host was great. Quick to respond and very helpful. Instructions made check-in and check-out very easy as well as helpful tips and ideas for activities. All while be very unintrusive. Would highly recommend.

  • Fantastic house in a great location with fab views of High Tor cliffs (and the occasional climber). Easy to walk into either Matlock or Matlock Bath. Dovedale just a short drive away. The house is beautifully decorated. Beds are soft and comfortable and the house is certainly suitable for couples or families. Fiona & Simon are great hosts and went out of their way to ensure our stay ran as smoothly as possible. We would strongly recommend this as a perfect place to stay if looking to explore the Peak District.

Facilities in the house are great, had everything we needed. Angela was quick to respond when booking and sent further info nearer the time. Would happily come back and stay.

  • Angie is amazing host and very responsive to questions... if you are with children or teenagers though beware the WiFi is so slow it is unusable so if WiFi is key for your party that may be an issue.

    Tracy2018-06-08T00:00:00Z
  • The whole experience was excellent - particularly given that this was a last-minute booking. Angela was extremely helpful and the apartment is excellent - lots of space and very well equipped. I am sure that we will be coming back to stay again.

Grade 2 listed Manor House sleeping unto 18 guests in 6 bedrooms, dining for 18, Sitting Room, Library and Cinema Cellar conversion. Sorry but my house is not available to host rowdy gatherings or parties of any description for more than 18 day or night
Peaceful Derbyshire hamlet above Matlock with its bars and restaurants.
  • Lovely house, tastefully decorated to complement Manor House. Very spacious, enabling a large group of people to have privacy when required. Very clean, beds also very comfy, all guests commented on how comfy beds were. Hot tub great too. Loved the great big kitchen, easily seating large group, lovely atmosphere when we were all together eating in there. Thanks for a fab weekend, your house made it very special!

    Diana2016-04-11T00:00:00Z
  • Nicola's house is beautiful. We enjoyed a lovely weekend break - the space is sociable and despite the very cold weather we got cozy in front of the fires (remember to bring your own logs, kindling etc). The location is stunning. I would definitely recommend.

    Alex2017-01-15T00:00:00Z
  • I actually don't think the pictures do the house justice. It a wonderful place to spend a weekend with friends. We had a group of 14 and as long as everyone's happy to share rooms theres plenty of space and the guys who run the house were very flexible with how to set up the beds etc. Communication was great and they allowed us a slightly later check out as the clocks were going forward on the Sunday which was lovely. Local area is great, Matlock has everything you could need. The house itself has a great outside space, we spent most of the time in the kitchen around the long table and playing pool and the cinema room is a great touch too.

    Chris2018-03-25T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic attention to detail. Arrival info couldn't have been clearer and facilities were really fantastic. Thanks for having us!

    Andrew2017-05-14T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay at Riber Hall was just fantastic. The house is absolutely beautiful with so many quirky details. We loved the cinema room and the gorgeous garden. The shared bathrooms on the first floor are HUGE so those with no ensuite did not mind one bit. The long dining table in the kitchen made our meals really special and the location meant we felt both secluded and able to celebrate our lovely friend's hen do in style but also close enough to the train station / Matlock centre. I would definitely recommend booking taxis in advance. Any other large groups looking for an activity, we travelled 15 minutes into Matlock to Rapid Horizons, where we went tubing on the river Derwent! Excellent communication from Nicola throughout. We've had a stay we'll never forget! X x

    Kim & Joe2018-04-22T00:00:00Z
  • We had high expectations of the house based on photographs, but are thrilled to report they were exceeded in real life. The centerpiece of the house was the huge kitchen/dining/ space with its entertainment pool table at on end and the hot tub just outside the door at the other. All the bedrooms were nicely made up and the host even included slippers and dressing gowns as well as some mini Christmas-gingerbread house pillow treats. We concluded our weekend with a movie night in the house's cellar cinema. All in all a great trip

    Theresa2016-12-27T00:00:00Z
  • What an incredible house! We had such an amazing time, beds were so comfy! Loved the lounge with comfy sofas and we had such a great party in the awesome kitchen! Great communication with host before and during. Thanks!

Beautiful 3 bedroom Grade 2 listed stone cottage in this historic village, formerly one of the Arkwright workers' cottages. Large and welcoming kitchen with island and seating, lovely dining room opening up into the lounge with original stone fireplace and impressive log burner. Original stone tiled floor throughout. Downstairs also has a 'snug' with sofa bed and utility area which leads to a small outside seating area. Very large master bedroom and fully refitted bathroom with separate shower.
Would suit a couple or large group alike. Cyclists, walkers, outdoor, adventurers, young and old....
Cromford is a wonderful and friendly village, steeped in history and providing ease of access to number of key Peak District towns, great walks, trails and attractions. Local village shop, a few take-aways and restaurants and two lovely pubs.
  • We stayed at the beautiful corner cottage and enjoyed a wonderful weekend in this well maintained, clean, comfy and homely cottage. A real home from home cottage in the lovely quiet village of Cromford. The owner Helen has thought of everything to make the accommodation as welcoming as possible and replied to any questions promptly. Thank you for allowing us to stay in your lovely accommodation. We will definitely return.

    Rachel2017-11-26T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic Cottage, it had everything you could imagine needing. Great location for exploring the Peak District, short stroll to a lovely pub and shops. Very cosy and comfortable.

    Cate2018-04-11T00:00:00Z
  • We had a very enjoyable stay. The house was nice and clean with plenty of bedding, hot water, kitchen utensils and everything we needed. The pictures don't really do it justice as it is a lovely large spacious house that retains a cottage feel to it. It is perfect for a large family and the kitchen is a great social space with everything you'd need. The little town of Cromford is within easy walking distance (5 mins) and there are nice pubs and shops. We also got a Sainsbury's home delivery on the first day for ease. I would definitely recommend Corner Cottage as a holiday rental and would love to return.

  • Lovely location and great property for a stay to visit the local tourist hot spots, will be back again!

  • Lovely place with lots of character and great for a group of 6-8

    David2018-04-22T00:00:00Z
  • A group of 7 of us stayed in Helen's lovely cottage for a cycling weekend. The cottage was spacious and had everything we needed and more - towels, very well equipped kitchen, lots of toiletries, etc. The accommodation was very easy to find and access, with plenty of parking a couple of minutes away, and everything was spotlessly clean. The cottage was fantastically located in the lovely village of Cromford, with great access to the Peaks for fantastic cycling. There are a couple of local pubs (we had a very reasonably priced meal at the Boat) and a very pretty pond - lovely spot for a picnic/evening drink!

    Sarah2018-05-06T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely spacious cottage with lots of character. Enormous master bedroom and everything well equipped, even loads of towels. Within a few minutes walk of great pubs and shops. Easy access and parking. Bathroom was lovely, but had the only toilet, so may be aware if lots of you.

    Deb2017-12-30T00:00:00Z
  • This place is fantastic. Great location for various sights in and around the national park. The house is beautiful and spacious. It would suit a family or group of friends/couples. Lots of info left by Helen to guide you in the right direction with food, shopping or activities! Easy to park the car and walking distance to shops and restaurants! This really was a home from home and you'd be silly not to stay here if you're in this area!! Thanks Helen!

Cromford. Derbyshire Peak District. Matlock. Close to Chatsworth. An historic village, part of which is designated as a World Heritage Site, surrounded by some glorious scenery. Cromford is forever associated with Sir Richard Arkwright as the birthplace of the Industrial Revolution. Arkwright built the world's first water powered cotton mills here and pioneered the factory system. Cromford developed around the mills as a purpose built industrial community. Arkwright's first mill, just off the A6, is undergoing long-term restoration by the Arkwright
  • We had a fantastic stay. Deborah was a great host - easily contactable and left some very thoughtful welcome goodies for all of us - including the dog! This is a lovely cosy, quirky cottage and we would definitely stay again. Thank you Deborah!

  • I've never used airbnb before. I had a lovely message from Deborah about our booking which was nice. Everything went to plan, when we arrived found it easy to find and was in a good location. Cottage lovely - lots of nice details and nice welcome gift from Deborah. We found it comfortable and a good base for Matlock, Bakewell and Chatsworth farm shop. Thanks Deborah for letting us use your house - will be back in the summer hopefully!

  • Lovely quirky cottage in a great location. Lots of room and cozy place to stay. All though we never met Deborah, she was an excellent communicator via messages when we had a few issues on trying to use the TV.. Will definitely return and highly recommend.

  • What a charming little cottage, the decour and the surrounding areas of this place were fantastic. Deborah was a brilliant host, easy to get in contact with and gave some great suggestions on where to go and what was in the area. Will definatly be coming back here to take advantage of the wonderful walks and scenery. Would be a great place for dog lovers and those who admire the beauty of the peak district.

    James2018-02-04T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely stay at Deborah's place and she was a very accommodating host with good communication. We found everything we needed in the house and loved Cromford! Lots of pubs, restaurants, cafes a couple of chip shops and a local store and deli, so plenty to choose from for breakfast or on an evening and the locals are all very friendly. I would especially recommend The Boat Inn for both a relaxing drink and an evening meal. The cottage is ideal for those wanting to explore the surrounding countryside, the history of the Mills and even go further afield, as it's just off the a6 so easy to drive around. It's not a countryside setting being in the village and on the main road, but the road was quiet on an evening so the traffic noise didn't bother us and we prefer to be near places to go on an evening, so that suited us perfectly. The only downside I could say was that I didn't find the bed comfortable and it was very creaky every time I moved so I didn't sleep great. But it didn't spoil the stay and it was a lovely base for a few days.

    Sophie2018-04-01T00:00:00Z
  • Deborah’s place is a large, well-equipped space with an enclosed garden in a fantastic location. It really was excellent value for money and we’d definitely go back!!

Hope terrace is a 4 bedroomed double fronted end terrace dating back to 1874. The 3 story house is perfect for families, couples or groups of friends. There is two bedrooms and a bathroom on each floor. The ground floor has a living room with wood burning stove and a large kitchen/dinning room. The house is in a lovely quiet area but all the amenities of Matlock Bath are a short walk away.
The house is spread over 3 floors, on the ground floor there is a living room with a multi fuel stove, TV, games, DVD's, books etc.... The first floor has a large bedroom with a king size bed, a small room with bunk beds (they are full size singles but I would recommend that only a small adult sleeps on the top bunk!) and a bathroom. On the second floor there is a bedroom with a king size bed, a twin bedroom and a shower room. To the front of the property is a small south facing courtyard with seating.
Matlock bath is a few minutes walk from the house and has a range of cafes, restaurants and pubs. The heights of Abraham and gullivers kingdom are both within walking distance.
  • We had a wonderful stay ! The house had everything you could think of . Communication was great! Beautiful views !

Just a few minutes walk from Matlock Bath too so an excellent location. The owners were kind and thoughtful and even left us a little welcome hamper and fire kit, which was a really nice touch. Would definitely recommend.

  • The house was gorgeous, even better than the pictures. Everything was clean, tidy and very tastefully decorated. The house contains loads of stuff to keep you busy - films, CDs, boardgames and lots of maps for walks. Everything worked without a hitch and the kitchen is well equipped. Would definitely recommend this to anyone - thank you so much for letting us stay!

  • Everything available that you would need for a weekend away. Great place. Good location for exploring the area and lots of information in the house. Amenities perfect for families. We even used the fire in the front room (in June) which was lovely. Couldn't have asked for a better base to explore Matlock.

  • A lovely and spacious house that accommodated our group comfortably. A lovely large kitchen and a sitting room with fire making for a cosy evening. The host was excellent at letting us know the details and went the extra mile in providing a welcome basket with a few bits in & setting up the travel cot for when we arrived. The local area is beautiful and I couldn't recommend this accommodation enough.

  • A lovely house. Near the centre, really quiet, plenty of room, and had everything that we needed with lots of thoughtful touches. Thanks loads. Michael.

Lyndhurst is a delightfully spacious attached, stone villa, laid out on three floors with ample space for groups of between 14 and 22 people to chill out and relax; the modern yet characterful accommodation. This beautifully appointed holiday accommodation is the perfect place for your holiday or short break in Derbyshire. Lyndhurst is perfect for family celebrations, reunions and discerning female parties. If you want a late checkout on Sunday. Contact me and I will raise the extra charge.
The house is reached via a flight of stone flagged steps and the huge front door leads into the main, oak floored entrance hall from where the gas centrally heated accommodation offers open plan dining and kitchen areas perfect for relaxed dining and socialising. The kitchen is fitted out with antique pine units and includes a fridge, freezer, dishwasher, microwave oven washing machine and dryer and a Rangemaster Excel 110 dual fuel cooker. The huge picture windows throughout the ground floor take in stunning views of the imposing Derbyshire limestone tors. The large dining table can accommodate up to 18 people and there's another side table used to extend if necessary - to fit 22 people. The property also benefits from unlimited WiFi and SKY TV including SKY Sports and SKY Movies.
Matlock Bath is a unique village nestled along the banks of the River Derwent in the Derbyshire Dales, just on the edge of the Peak District National Park. It developed in the 1800s as a spa resort where wealthy Victorians used to visit and take the healing waters. Today the visitors still arrive in their hundreds to enjoy the picturesque scenery, the vibrant atmosphere and the multitude of attractions and events that are on offer all year round. It is often said that Matlock Bath is like a seaside town without the sea, due to the number of gift shops and amusement arcades that line the 'front'. Attractions in the village include The Heights of Abraham - a hilltop country park complete with old lead mine, cavern and even a cable car; Gulliver's Kingdom - a theme park dedicated to the enjoyment of younger children; Masson Mill, part of the historic Derwent Valley Mills where Sir Richard Arkwright Began the Industrial Revolution. For the more energetic amongst you there is a fantastic watersports centre situated on the banks of Carsington Water, about five miles away; where you can enjoy windsurfing, canoeing, sailing and fishing. Carsington Sailing Club also hires out boats by the day for those nautically inclined. Further afield you will find the beautiful stately homes of Chatsworth House - home of the Duke and Duchess of Devonshire; Haddon Hall - family home of the Manners family since the 1500s and the location for many films and TV dramas including Pride and Prejudice and Jayne Eyre. Just a couple of miles down the road is the picturesque market town of Wirksworth, with its maze of narrow streets and cobbled walkways and venue for the critically acclaimed Wirksworth Arts Festival each September. For those who enjoy white knuckle rides, the UK's favourite theme park, Alton Towers, is about 30 minutes away, just on the other side of Ashbourne - home of The Royal Shrovetide Football every Shrove Tuesday and Ash Wednesday. Each autumn Matlock Bath is the venue for the Matlock Bath Illuminations and Venetian Nights - with a parade of Illuminated and decorated boats each Saturday and Sunday during the season plus a programme of entertainment in or near the bandstand in Derwent Gardens each evening as well as cliftop firework displays on three Saturday nights during the event.
  • We stayed here for a family reunion and it was perfect for a get together with so many people. A very large attractive building with more than enough good bedrooms and bathrooms and communal rooms. It's also very well suited for children. Matlock Bath itself is a lovely place as is the wider area of the Peak District. I'd definitely recommend it

  • This is a beautiful house in an idyllic location. We had a lovely time both in and outside - relaxing, walking around, and eating meals around the enormous table. The rooms are very nice and spacious and the beds are extremely comfortable.

  • Great place for a family weekend - we were a group of all ages and everyone enjoyed themselves. Bedrooms were all comfortable and having two lounges meant the children in our group could watch cartoons whilst the adults watched the rugby! Just about everything was provided in the kitchen and a thank you especially for the welcome pack! We really enjoyed it .

The apartment was lovely, perfect base for exploring the Peak District. Everything at The Barn was thoughtfully laid out, clean and in good condition. Youlgreave is a lovely village with stunning scenery and both The Bull's Head and Farmyard Inn do gorgeous food. Ken and Carol were very welcoming hosts and we greatly appreciated the tea, milk, biscuits and wine which were ready for our arrival.
