"SafeHaven" - Coastal walks and bush views

Kick back and relax in this calm, stylish space. Fantastic bush views with Ruru & Kiwi calling at night. A short 5 minute walk takes you to a lookout over the bay and a little further down to the water. The home is well furnished with a well equipped kitchen. Guests have sole use of the home and bedrooms are accessed to suit the number of guests. Please let us know the configuration of beds you require. Safehaven is in a great location to easily access all that the Bay of Islands has to offer.

The Smokehouse

The Smokehouse – a charming one-bedroom retreat where peace and relaxation meet a touch of fun. After a day at the beach, cool off with the outdoor shower, then kick back with a refreshing drink at the bar. As night falls, slip into the super king bed and drift off, dreaming of your next adventure. Enjoy a scenic walk around the beach into Paihia, just a 20-minute stroll, or take a quick 4-minute ride to the heart of town. It’s the perfect blend of calm, convenience, and beauty for your getaway!

Ganeden Eco Retreat

Ganeden Eco Retreat is set overlooking valleys of native bush and pasture. Ganeden relies solely on solar power generation and is earth friendly. This retreat offers an experience in comfort & sustainability. You will be 5 to 15 km from some of NZ's great expansive white sandy beaches, stunning walks, cafes & outdoor pursuits. Your accommodation is half of the main house. It is completely closed off for your privacy with private access & outdoor deck. BBQ by request. Not suitable for children.

Garden Hill Cottage, Maungatapere

Away from the hustle bustle, enjoy this quiet serene spot. The property is well off the highway and the neighbouring orchards screen us from traffic noise. The cottage is nestled between small avocado and mixed fruit orchards, with a view out to the small pond and post’n’rail fenced paddocks beyond. Last minute bookings are usually no problem - we respond quickly. Relax with the family (with up to 3 children) in this organic permaculture lifestyle block with animals that love being fed.

Modern cedar home in Dolphin Bay, Tutukaka with all the modern benefits including a separate self contained sleep out. Absolute water front with panoramic ocean views and access to the beach below for fishing, snorkeling, kayaking, exploring, or just sitting on the sand. Enjoy all day sun from the ocean facing decks and then retire to the courtyard in the evening for a BBQ while sitting in front of an open wood fire. Tutukaka's finest restaurants and bars only a 3 minute drive away

The Annex - self contained unit .

The Annex is on a small farmlet, 6 km south of Whangarei, with harbour views. It was a sleepout, built in the 1980's, separate, but next to the main house. It has two bedrooms. There is a double bed and two singles plus a day bed in the living area. The living/ dining area, has a wood fire. There is a small shower room and separate toilet. It is situated about 100 mtr off SH1, so there can be road noise. There are no streetlights and it can be very dark if you arrive after sundown.

Top House - unrivalled views and privacy

The Top House, so named because of its location, with 270 degree views, has unrivalled privacy, and it's own helipad. This recently renovated 3 bedroom house is located on 330 acres of private farmland. The house has been finished to a high standard, with excellent amenities, including hot tub with amazing views, outdoor dining and lounge spaces on 360 degree decks, WiFi, two TVs, heaps of parking, modern kitchen and luxury bathrooms, and comfortable stylish furniture throughout.

The Gables - Stunning Waterfront Apartment

The Gables Waterfront Apartment is housed in a lovingly restored historic building on the Russell foreshore with 'Reach out and touch the water' views of the bay. The apartment has its own private courtyard entrance. The living, dining and kitchen areas open through french doors onto the balcony terrace, the perfect place for morning coffee or an aperitif before dinner. Swim right outside on the waterfront beach or take your pick of any of the peninsula's other stunning beaches.

Fishmeister Lodge

This modern guesthouse with a 5 metre stud has a large mezzanine bedroom with a super king bed and two singles, open plan living/dining/kitchen area with extensive decks and concrete floors throughout. Features include spa pool, fireplace, indoor/outdoor dining areas, set on a 1 acre property. 2 minutes drive to market, restaurants and takeaways, including the iconic Mangawhai Tavern. 10-15 minutes drive to your choice of white-sand surf beaches and world class golf courses.

The Yurt Wai Rua

The Yurt at Wai Rua, west of Whangarei, is approximately 20 minutes drive from Kamo via Pipiwai Road. It is set in a beautiful tranquil farmland area beside a small lake, which is surrounded by native trees. Watch the native birds, ducks and pukekos whilst sitting on the deck. It has amazing rural views, including massive volcanic rocks. The yurt has a separate kitchen, with a small fridge and gas oven and 2hob burners. The bathroom has a hot water shower and composting toilet.

A large open plan living area with bi-folds and covered decks provide great indoor/outdoor flow and access to the views wherever you sit. For front row seats, the outdoor chairs are a great spot for morning coffee or end of day drinks. Linen is included in the tariffs

We are only 75mins drive north of Auckland, 10 mins off the number one highway. The cottage is built from beautiful untreated hardwoods set in a tranquil private spot, nestled on the edge of a regenerating native forest. The cottage is only a 2min walk down to the beautiful Kaipara Harbour. Our place is part of a 25 year old 300 acre organic permaculture farm, which we were instrumental in setting up as a working farm and village style subdivision.
