Local Neighbourhood And Beyond

Get to know your local area Vesterbro. Most shops will open around 11 o'clock at Istedgade, our local shopping street with cafés, quirky shops, and greengrocers and so on. Clothes shopping we recommend Kyoto and ES. It is also this street where you can grab a cheap kebab for lunch, dumplings or other café options. At Skydebanegade you can get a delicious Sicilian ice cream, coffee or a Danish design furniture from DANSK. Sdr. Boulevard has become a very popular place to hang out both during day and night. Take your time to explore Kioskh, the outdoor bar, Riga and Absalon. Saxogade is also a quirky street with a mix of shops with social sustainable attitude. Enghave Plads (by the Metro) has also become incredible popular. The tiny Enghave park is cosy with your morning newspaper or with a book in the afternoon. Bring a blanket if you want a break. Head towards the old Carlsberg Area and enjoy the historic variety in architecture. Pass by the elephants, find the old Carlsberg garden now converted into a simple park. Walk into the windy roads and the new apartment areas, as well as the old brewery homes. If your legs are tired, find Kammas Garden (slightly hidden at Rahbecks Allé) and threat yourself in their orangery. If you feel like more walking in green scenery you can continue to Sdr. Marken and Frederiksberg Have. Frederiksberg Have and Frederiksberg Allé is charming. You are now no longer at Vesterbro (workmans district) but Frederiksberg a richer area. Promenaden is traditional and cosy for lunch or the chocolatier is excellent for ice cream. Another tiny area to explore is the Værnedamsvej. We like everything both cafes, shops and restaurants. Maybe book a table for tonight. For shopping have a look in Doras eclectic universe or Anne Blacks aesthetic at Gl. Kongevej. If you need anther coffee try Verdens Mindste Kaffe Bar. Also the new Danish brand Artikel have their tiny showroom. (For more clothes shopping head towards vintage I blame Lulu or Nué)

City centre

Get to know Copenhagen The very beginning to get to know Copenhagen is to walk into the centre and harbour site. Maybe start the morning in your own neighbourhood with a lazy but great breakfast at Mad og Kaffe or Absalon. When you feel like it stroll towards the centre passing by Tivoli, Glyptoteket and Gl. Strand and head towards Ny Havn (New Harbour). At Ny Havn there is plenty of people, boats and restaurants and our favourite thing to do with friends from abroad is the guided boat tours. It is a relaxed and simple introduction to the city. Either the Netto boats a cheap option with no pre booked tickets Or a touristy option with a roof. But what’s not to like with a take away coffee in hand and an hour to spend on the water. We can also recommend Hey Captain for a different sightseeing by boats. Take a look at their website, book and notice place and time. If the hustle and bustle at NyHavn make you long for a quiet lunch or coffee make your way to Charlottenborg Kunsthal just opposite where you can visit their quiet café. At Ny Havn you can try a danish ice cream cone with ‘guf’ a very sweet sugar topping! If you still feel like walking you can head towards the Queens Palace, The Marble Church, Kastellet and get a glimpse of the little mermaid together with plenty of other tourists:) Tivoli is nice in the evening/night time when the lights create a charming sight. Check the prices as Friday evening they have extra entrance prices.

Harbour walk or cycle ride

More harbour city Wal or Rent a bike for the day, find the city bikes parked at Enghave Park or in front of Absalon at Sdr. Boulevard. (Avoid the electric bikes if you are not used to cycling) Look at the city map for the harbour ring and go over the cycling bridge to Bryggen. This is a nice stretch along the water and it is possible to ride along the harbour front towards Christians Havn. Make sure to pass by Olaffur Eliassons beautiful Circle Bridge, and maybe visit the Savour Church and walk all the stairs for a view over Copenhagen. Head on towards Holmen and Refshaleøen, visit the food market or a local cafe at Chrisitanshavn. Hang out for the day in this area. We recommend a drink at Kontiki bar or La Banchina. Actually make sure to visit both. If you wish to reach more…. make a choice between Christiania (and walk along the moat) or ride back towards the queens palace to enjoy the water scene from Toldboden
