Get to know Copenhagen The very beginning to get to know Copenhagen is to walk into the centre and harbour site. Maybe start the morning in your own neighbourhood with a lazy but great breakfast at Mad og Kaffe or Absalon. When you feel like it stroll towards the centre passing by Tivoli, Glyptoteket and Gl. Strand and head towards Ny Havn (New Harbour). At Ny Havn there is plenty of people, boats and restaurants and our favourite thing to do with friends from abroad is the guided boat tours. It is a relaxed and simple introduction to the city. Either the Netto boats a cheap option with no pre booked tickets Or a touristy option with a roof. But what’s not to like with a take away coffee in hand and an hour to spend on the water. We can also recommend Hey Captain for a different sightseeing by boats. Take a look at their website, book and notice place and time. If the hustle and bustle at NyHavn make you long for a quiet lunch or coffee make your way to Charlottenborg Kunsthal just opposite where you can visit their quiet café. At Ny Havn you can try a danish ice cream cone with ‘guf’ a very sweet sugar topping! If you still feel like walking you can head towards the Queens Palace, The Marble Church, Kastellet and get a glimpse of the little mermaid together with plenty of other tourists:) Tivoli is nice in the evening/night time when the lights create a charming sight. Check the prices as Friday evening they have extra entrance prices.

Copenhagen, Denmark’s capital, sits on the coastal islands of Zealand and Amager. It’s linked to Malmo in southern Sweden by the Öresund Bridge. Indre By, the city's historic center, contains Frederiksstaden, an 18th-century rococo district, home to the royal family’s Amalienborg Palace. Nearby is Christiansborg Palace and the Renaissance-era Rosenborg Castle, surrounded by gardens and home to the crown jewels.
