We loved staying with Helen at the Bealey eco lodge. The setting is breathtaking and Helen’s cosy lodge was the perfect place to explore the area from. Helen is a super friendly host with a remarkable knowledge of the region. We’d recommend this stay for anyone traveling through the area looking for an off-grid experience

Hello Hugh, I've been back in China for a while now, but I still can't stop thinking about that night we spent by Lake Ohau. I often reminisce about Dwayne and you. Thank you so much for your warm hospitality. If I ever have the chance to visit New Zealand again, I will definitely stay with you once more, and I'll also recommend it to my friends!

This is the most special place we stayed in our 4 weeks in New Zealand. The lodge feels absolutely like home and casts a spell you will never forget. Pete was a such a warm and funny presence—always ready with a quip or a laugh. The room we had, and the main house, are beautifully designed and the interiors are warm, authentic and serene. Extremely comfortable bed and top notch bathroom facilities. You will definitely want to stay longer than whatever time you have booked.

We were cycling the TA route and Cathy was extremely helpful and sorted our washing, which is great when you are cycling. No eating out options in the village, so you need to bring your own food.

Great place to stay whilst you are journeying through new zealands south island. Cathy was very accomodating for our late checkin.

Cathy’s Airbnb is lovely. Quiet, very comfortable and very well set up. We only stayed two nights but easily could’ve stayed longer, lots to see and do in this beautiful region. Easy to fix an easy “skillet supper” and breakfast . Loved sitting out on the front porch after we arrived, and watch the sunset. Bed is extremely comfortable made with soft linens and a cozy comforter which made for a very good night’s rest. I highly recommend Cathy’s Airbnb!

Very nice place to stay if you want your accommodation near Franz Joseph. I had booked my Heli ride so want to stay close for any reschedules. This motel is very good with very big washroom. Enjoyed my tea in the room

This motel was a great place to sleep after a long day of hiking near the glaciers. The space was clean and the beds comfortable. Cathy has done a nice job making updates with cozy new electric fireplaces and newer linens. It was very quiet, which made for a great night sleep away from Franz Josef. We had eaten in town before we arrived, but we saw another guest eat in using the available grill to cook dinner. Cathy was great at sharing information about the area ahead of time to make sure we were prepared for our stay!

Very clean and comfortable, right on the main road but was quiet.

Cathy's place was perfect for our one night stay. She was kind enough to offer us an upgrade due to a cancellation, which we very much appreciated. The unit was very spacious, clean and very well equipped with everything we needed. It was well heated and the bed was very comfortable. We would recommend a stay at Cathy's place - it certainly met our expectations as a great place to relax after a full day of exploring.

Very helpful and accommodating host. We booked 2 rooms and we loved our 2-nights stay despite the weather. The beds were very comfortable. Highly recommended

This was our second time staying at Ao Marama. It is a peaceful, beautiful retreat. Rustic in many ways, but very accommodating. Highly recommend!

our stay at the lodge was all I could hope for. easy drive into arthurs pass village, scenic routes through the mountains. cute dogs and good company in the lodge. kitchen had everything we needed. would 100% stay again.

We had a wonderful time! The location is gorgeous, the property has been lovingly designed and is very well thought-out, and Elizabeth and her family couldn't have been nicer. We loved the walk down to the beach and walking to Collingwood, and the birdsong in the evenings and mornings was amazing.
