One of my favorite tavernas for traditional food from Crete. Try the liver with honey, the fried snails or one of their famous sausages. The dakos salad is also amazing!

Embedded in Kanigos Square, this is one of the most established Cretan restaurants in the city—it’s been around for 33 years. The restaurant is casual and definitely not fancy, but the food is some of the best in Athens. Try courgette fritters, dakos, and their chickpea salad and especially the baby goat stuffed with rice, herbs, and cheese. This small restaurant is always packed, so make sure to call ahead to reserve a table.
