The most historic plantation in the area, dating back to 1619. Home of the first true Thanksgiving in America. Presidents and signers of the Declaration of Independence lived here. Recommend walking the beautiful grounds and finding grave sites and commemorative stones of very famous and important people.
Visit one of the many plantations off historic Route 5 in Charles City County. Berkeley was home to 9th President William Henry Harrison and 23rd President Benjamin Harrison.
Berkeley Plantation on the James River has beautiful grounds and tours of the historic mansion. "Taps" was composed here. Lincoln reviewed the Union Troops here. Photo c. Terri Aigner Photography
