Tilden Park is a gorgeous (and huge) park with incredible views of San Francisco. Within the park there are plenty of things to do, including riding a steam train, the “little farm,” etc. It’s a wonderful place to sit and take in the sights of the East Bay and beautiful San Francisco.

Nearby hikes, about a 10 minute drive up the hill. We like to start at Lone Oak Trail Head or Lake Anza.

Great place for hikes with breathtaking views. Paved, well-marked, and with immediate vista payoffs around every turn, Nimitz Way is a multi-generational crowd-pleaser.

Nice park located on the Berkeley Hills. The drive to the hill is uphill, but the view is breathtaking

“Park-ish/architecture-ish-- the UC Berkeley Landscape Design Gardens-- only open during the week (check the website) and very worth a visit. Many people don't even know this is here. Shhhh.”

“The Lafayette Reservoir is an open-cut man-made terminal water storage reservoir owned and operated by the East Bay Municipal Utility District (EBMUD). Completed in 1933, it was intended solely as a standby water supply for EBMUD customers.[a] EBMUD opened the reservoir for public recreation in 1966.[3] It is located off of California State Route 24 and a mile from the Lafayette BART station, in Contra Costa County, California, United States. This all-year, day-use area is ideal for hiking, jogging, fishing, boating and picnicking. The reservoir is on the Lafayette-Orinda border.”

“Tilden Park has something for everyone. Miles of hiking trails among the east bay hills, a merry-go-round and steam trains and little-farm for the youngsters, botanical gardens, a golf course, a lake....just a fantastic regional park.”
