Don't judge a book by it's cover! This place is run by the greatest Camberwellians. Super lovely people who stock very good value fruit & vegetables (without lots of plastic!!).

We always buy all our vegetables here. It's run by a lovely Greek family who have been in Camberwell for years and we love to support their business. Kind, and generous spirited they'll always let you off a few pence as long as you bring it back next time! A truly local grocers.

A Cypriot grocery store with a huge array of fruit and veg, the owner Aristotle has been serving the Camberwell populations for decades!

“This friendly cabin of an Irish pub has been the haunt of Camberwell’s more cultured art students since Leonardo’s time, it seems. Prices are still cheap, the regulars still include old locals who’ve been skulking around in SE5 since Macmillan told them they’d never had it so good, and the decor is still largely made up of pre-war drinks advertising (‘Good Old Murphy’s!’) and contemporary photography. Beers might include selections from the Brodie’s brewery in Leyton; such French ciders as Pays d’Aude and Fermier (each £6) offer an inappropriately continental alternative. Wine is not a selling point, but the prices are fair: all bottles are £12, with glasses at £4.20.”

“Nandine is a family-run business tucked away on Vestry Road, owned by the same people who run Yada’s Kurdish Kitchen in Peckham. Mum Pary Baban is the star here, cooking her own Kurdish meze recipes, which are fresh, healthy and excellent. She collected them from the many people she met during her time fleeing the Gulf War in her home country, faithfully recording them in a tattered notebook. We love her handmade börek, made using a special kind of pastry called galgali, and her baklava is world-class – just sweet enough, with the layers of crackly pastry and nuts soaked in perfumed syrup. They also do delivery, FYI.”

“Perfectly positioned above the South London Gallery. Stop here for a Habit bap with black pudding, chilli jam and treacle cured bacon before ambling through the gallery.”
