On the initiative of Paris City Hall, the theatre Théâtre des Abbesses was inaugurated on 18 Novembre 1996, the second theatre of the Théâtre de la Ville, a resolutely contemporary italian style theatre constructed by a Belgian architect, Charles Vandenhove. About 95 shows are programmed each season…

Place des Abbesses is widely known for its art-nouveau metro station. The familiar entrance to the station was designed by Hector Guimard.
