Every Saturday we have a market through out Hoorn. I usually start with a coffee at Koffie van Hoorn and then circle the marked. Buying fresh fruits and veggies is cheaper than buying in the supermarket. I usually end up in the square for a glass if wine or more coffee, with apple pie. Be sure to bring your own shopping bags as those are not provided in The Netherlands, due to environmental issues. Open from 9am - 5pm

Hoorn is a smal city, 20 km from Edam to the north. Very nice and historic (VOC) harbour. City centre with a lot of shops and 2 beach clubs ‘Volt’ and ‘Oranje buiten’. Just outside the centre at the Ijsselmeer. A great place to shop.

Enough of the big cities? Easily reachable by train is Hoorn. The town is a bit more off the grid and has a waterfront. Truely an adorable town to visit.

Nice City where it all start for the Verenigde Compagny VOC The VOC brought all the goods from around the world in 17th century and was the first compagny who gave out stocks .

This former VOC town has a great beach at the Ijselmeer lake.
