Originally a simple security valve at the Coulouvrenière hydraulic factory. In 1891, transferred to the "Rade", to become a major tourist attraction. In 1951, provided with an autonomous pumping station, propelling 500 liters of water per second to 140 meters at 200 km per hour

A must-see on a visit to Geneva, the jet d'eau is a defining symbol of Lake Léman in Geneva.
The most recognizable landmark in Geneva. The Jet d'Eau is a large fountain which spurts up out of Lake Geneva. It is one of the tallest fountains in the world. The fountain shoots up in a single jet of water 140 meters straight up into the air at a speed of 200km an hour.
