There is a sweet diner inside this old hotel. We especially like the breakfasts. Gruff waitresses that call you "honey" will bring you big plates of eggs and pancakes.

East Town Restaurant. A good breakfast/lunch spot is Plaza Cafe. 7am-2pm. In a well-kept, historic Milwaukee hotel. I recommend sitting at the large counter where you can watch the cooks. But the “hallway turned restaurant” tables just seems to work. A bit overpriced and slow when busy but the Old World ambiance and close proximity to my 2 Bedroom propery make it worth it.

The Café at the Plaza is a bustling vintage café that locals consider a Milwaukee treasure. With its traditional tile work, etched glass doors and original floors, the Café is a nod to a simpler time.The Courtyard is nestled in the center of our red brick building. Straight out of the pages of a French travel guide, the ivy-covered courtyard offers open-air seating for both drinks and dining. Join us for seasonal al fresco breakfast or lunch during regular Cafe hours. The Café and Dining Room are open daily from 7:00am – 2:00pm. The Café and Courtyard (weather pending) are open Wednesday – Sunday, 2:00pm – 6:00pm for their happy hour.

Good brunch/breakfast place. Usually easy to find a seat on the patio, which is like stepping back in time, and you almost forget you're near the heart of downtown. The cafe counter is good and classic/old-fashioned diner (you'll want to order some apple pie). The food is good, and the coffee is strong. Prices fair.
