Umhlanga Main Beach is a swimming beach with shark nets and lifeguards are on duty daily. The 2.4km promenade is great for walking and jogging.The Umhlanga pier was voted by CNN as "The Worlds Most Beautiful" in 2014 and the whalebone structure won the South African national award for outstanding engineering

Stunning views, rock pools, swimming, surfing, early morning yoga, romantic walks, brunch on the beach, cocktails at a hotel... you name it, there's something for everyone. During the holidays there are sometimes festivals, surfing competitions and kids' activities. Make sure to lotion up - the Durban summer sunshine is unforgiving.
