Traditional hut next to the lake

Home is within Chula Beach Resort in Luanda Rombo (Rusinga) in a beautiful quiet and serene compound that gives the feeling of a homestead but with modern and clean finishes. You can order local and very delicious food (including breakfast) within the compound. The compound stretches to the lake so you can enjoy a beautiful and relaxing view anytime. A small bar is also available within the compound so you can order some drinks. No loud noises though, only calm Rhumba/ Benga music is played.

Rusinga Suites

Rusinga suites offers a tranquil escape and is the perfect place to reset. The self contained studio apartment has a kitchenette where you can make your meals. Alternatively, the chef can fix you customised meals at an extra cost depending on the meal you wish to have. There is free parking, a ceiling fan and running water. A flat-screen TV is featured. Enjoy sitting at the gazebo where you can have lunch, catch up on some work, read a book or simply sit and watch the surrounding nature.

I Know A Place, Lake House

I KNOW A PLACE, LAKE HOUSE A man built a two-bedroom tented beach house by Lake Victoria, 8kms from Mbita Town. A private beach. He planted trees, grew grass. It's his home but also home to lots of birds, guinea-fowls, and a cat called Oatmeal. When in bed, he can see distant islands and passing boats. Each night he lights a fire under a large sky. He built it for peace, tranquility, reflection and creating. An escape. He is now sharing it with you, so that you can make it your home too.

Rusinga Island Sunset Homestay

Where are we? We are located in Rusinga Island, which is a small island in lake Victoria but connected to the mainland by a bridge. Mbita is the nearest town on the mainland and 8 km away from the homestead. The lake is always in sight and only a 5 minute walk away. On the island you will find mainly small farms with the families living either in the traditional mud huts or more modern brick houses. Several small villages are spread around the island, Kolunga Beach being the closest.

Opija House is a new construction, two-bedroom home with ensuite bathrooms and designed with stylistic elements reflecting the owners' Southern California lifestyle. There is an island kitchen which opens up to a large sitting room with a big screen tv. The home has wifi, veranda seating, a peakaboo lake view and lake access with a short walk. The property is securely fenced and gated and it is a 4 km walk, "pikipiki", or car ride to Mbita town for goods and services.
