It's currently one of London's hottest foodie spots and has a unique charme that you won't forget very quickly. Pick a table in one of over 20 little restaurants serving a truly global cuisine, from Beijing street food (Mama Lan) over modern British (Cornercopia) to some of the best Thai food you will have ever eaten (KaoSarn). Prepare for queues between Thursday and Saturday in the evenings.

Just wander down the street and eat luunch or dinner in one of the many fantastic restaurants, from excellent Spanish tapas to rustic French cuisine. Most places offer a 3 course lunch menu for around 20 GBP - and what you get for your money will blow you away.
If you are in town over a Sunday, head to Old Street tube station and take a 3 minute walk to The Princess of Shoreditch, arguably east London's best gastro pub. Their Sunday Roast (a British institution one should experience at least once in life) is regularly voted No1 in town, and they offer a wide selection of ales, beers and an impressive wine list. Service is excellent. Walk through Shoreditch after and explore London's hipster Central.

Expect chalk white walls, no music, no art on the walls and no fuss (the building is an old butchery), but impeccable service and some of the best food you have ever eaten. Wine menu almost exclusively French, prices are reasonable and you only pay for the quality of the ingredients, order dessert. Must-go for foodies.

Take the tube to Piccadilly Circus and step straight into Hotel Cafe Royal. Ask for the 'Golden Room', which, as the name suggests, is gold-plated from floor to ceiling. Take a seat and enjoy live music cabaret on the weekends, often featuring lovely drag queens.

Sip a cocktail in one of the many little bars dotted along Brick Lane after or treat yourself to London's most famous Salt Beef Bagel.
