In Playa del Carmen there are many beach clubs, but none compare to El Taj. Only two blocks from the flat it is elegant, exclusive and well worth a visit. The food is great and prices reasonable.

Yes, I know - Starbucks is commonplace but there is complimentary WiFi. There are three locations along Fifth Avenue: 5th & 28th, 5th & 10th and Paseo del Carmen.

There are two locations both on 5th at Constituyentes and Calle 30 Norte. These small coffee / dessert shops have talented baristas and the best chocolate mousse you'll find in Playa.

Drinks & Nightlife
Diablito is my preferred club in Playa. The atmosphere is laid back, sort of mid-century modern in the tropics, decent music (although a bit loud at times), good service and all around fun place.
