It offers one of the BEST Italian foods you'll ever taste! I seriously recommend this for die-hard fans of pasta / Italian cuisine. The chef is a native of Italy and the ingredients are super fresh.

If this is your first time in Jakarta and you want to try Street Food in a nice-setting, visit Pasaraya Grande Foodcourt. It offers well-known and local-loved foods from all of Indonesia (Try the Nasi Goreng Kebun Sirih, Ayam Kremes, Bakso, Pempek, and many more). You'll have to buy a top-up card for $5-$10, but it's definitely worth it.

Though it's a bit far, I think coming here at night and feeling the breeze of the sea coast and looking at the view while eating really delicious sea-food is a must-do experience. Indonesia is an archipelago - and we love the ocean and everything within it.

I love to come here for brunch, eat some really good tapas, and come back later in the night to dance to some really good tunes. The house music is really nice - although they also do some R&Bs as well. Lots of expats go here to chill as well.

For quality and affordable Indonesian souvenirs, Sarinah offers the largest variety of items (starting from rugs, mugs, fans, clothes, keychains, you name it). In fact, this was one of the earliest mall to be buit in Jakarta, so they still maintain the heritage of it.

Arts & Culture

You can feel the spirit of Jakarta in this small square. Lots of street snacks and pedestrians strolling around. Visit Cafe Batavia, a colonial landmark that was built in the 1830s. Definitely a spot to take photos and see what Jakarta was like back in the days

Few people know this - but I believe this is one of the best museum in Jakarta. In 1965, there was a killing spree that propelled Soeharto, the longest ruling Indonesian president to power for 32 years. The museum is the house of a prominent General that was killed during the raid. The museum still feels authentic and homy - so many real artifacts are still kept here. In fact, the General's family still visit here once a year to remember the dreadful night. You can see the broken doors where the bullets were shot from, as well as the actual house pieces from 1965. Museum is well kept, and a tour guide is there to guide you along the way. A must for history/culture buffs!
