If you don't feel like walking up the stairs, you can take an elevator to the top of the Chateau of which a few stones remain. It's a winding shady park with grassy areas and mosaics and above all, a superb view of the Port and the Baie des Anges (waterfront).

If you go up to the Cimiez neighborhood, you will see majestic former hotels that have been transformed into apartments, a park and you'll also be near the renowned Matisse and Chagall museums.

A 2 and a half hours bus ride from the train station takes you to the mountains for hiking or skiing depending on the season. You can go to Valberg, Auron or Isola 2000 in the morning and be back on the beach in the afternoon.

This jewel of a museum was designed by Kenzo Tange to house a carefully selected collection of art from several Asian countries. Each country has its own wing and the museum is located in the botanic garden called the Parc Phoenix.

This ancient Greek style villa is just across the bay from the Villa Rothschild so you can visit both the same day. The former owners were cousins and both had exquisite taste matched with abundant means.

There are about 3 Casino (not to be confused with a spot for gambling) supermarkets along the Bd. Gambetta which is immediately perpendicular to our impasse.
The closest one is even open on Sunday afternoons which is a rarity in France. Most are now open Sunday mornings but a late arrival on a Sunday makes one very grateful for this Casino.

This movie theater is the closest one to our apartment and also happens to have the largest choice of French and foreign movies in their original version, so subtitles rather than dubbing.
