Food Scene
Red Planet Diner was a cute place with not so great food. Now it's Mexican. Convenient and open, but not the best in town. See Elote for that. I wouldn't call Elote convenient (long wait time), but the food is innovative and delicious. Or Mariposa - not Mexican per se and expensive, but fabulous views in the daytime.
Friendly, good-hearted place with a wide variety of dishes, fabulous desserts, and many interesting events. Service is sometimes great, sometimes a little slow, so just allow enough time to linger and you'll enjoy your meal. Nice garden area if the weather is good.

Now is Las Rosales Mexican restaurant. Not my favorite but they are open later than most.

Owned by Lisa Dahl, who also has Dahl and DiLuca and Mariposa. Not a chain, which is great. Tasty pizza and salads. Not very big, so can get overwhelmed on weekends.

Very nice family run fresh Mexican food. Tamales to die for, and they have vegan. Not open Sunday or Monday. Very small, so might be better to order takeout during busy times.
