It's where I've lived for the past 12 years, loving every moment. If you have a dog, take it to the beach south of the head and it can run leash free. Just off there now with my red dog, Lupi!

Our local village, with friendly residents and a charming slow pace of life. The grocery shop sells alcohol at competitive prices. Check out pelicans, go fishing, cross the river to the surf. Perfect.

• Here are the ruins of an old gaol built by convicts and now the site of concerts, art shows and tourism. History buffs will be fascinated, and the views are spectacular. About 35 minutes from here.

Kangaroos! This pretty beach is loved by locals. Drive into the picnic area to see kangaroos – and baby joeys peeking out of their mothers' pouches. Worth the 30-minute drive from Grassy.

At the entrance to the park is a children's play area and a sandy river beach. Cross the wooden bridge and walk for 15 minutes to reach mile after mile of unspoiled beaches. Take your fishing rod!
