The views from the top of the rock are simply stunning on a clear day. You can look over the bay to Spain and across the Straits to Africa. You stand in one country and look out at another and a different continent, its fantastic.

Beautifully well kept gardens with a huge variety of plants. it's a relaxing place to eat your picnic and get away from the hustle and bustle of town. Whilst in the gardens pay a visit to the small zoo which has a surprising number of different animals.

Red Sands RoadBeautifully well kept gardens with a huge variety of plants. it's a relaxing place to eat your picnic and get away from the hustle and bustle of town. Whilst in the gardens pay a visit to the small zoo which has a surprising number of different animals.
This is a sandy beach with a selection of bars and restaurants.

Catalan Bay Beach
This is a sandy beach with a selection of bars and restaurants.
This is a small stony beach with a large pier from which to enter the sea. The surrounding area is concrete with a special covering to prevent people slipping over when they have been swimming. There are two public swimming pools located here, one for children under 5 years old and the other for everyone. There is one bar/restaurant and in the summer months also a small kiosk where you can purchase snacks and ice creams.
Camp Bay Beach
This is a small stony beach with a large pier from which to enter the sea. The surrounding area is concrete with a special covering to prevent people slipping over when they have been swimming. There are two public swimming pools located here, one for children under 5 years old and the other for everyone. There is one bar/restaurant and in the summer months also a small kiosk where you can purchase snacks and ice creams.
This is not a beach as such as it is all concrete and you have to go down some steps to enter the sea. There is a children's pool located here.

Where else can you walk across a runway? When a plane lands the barriers come down so all cars and pedestrians have to wait. This is a great place to watch the planes come and go.
It really is a real excuse here "sorry i'm late a plane was landing"!
When the barriers are lifted don't forget to take a photo of yourself on the runway with the rock face behind you.

If you don't fancy the walk then an alternative is to take a taxi tour.

Take the cable car to the top of the rock and enjoy stunning views on the way up. At the top you will be greeted by the resident barbary apes, please make sure food, drink and valuables are safely zipped inside your bag!

Walking around the narrow streets and steps in the Upper Town gives you an idea of what Gibraltar used to look like before all the modern developments and land reclamation.
At every turn there is another quaint alleyway, street or steps to explore.
