Food Scene

Bright and clean. Great view of Morse ave., and the outdoor patio is shaded and perfect for people watching. The baristas are kind and give great recommendations about the neighborhood.

Giordano's is a Chicago staple. This quaint location is a favorite of mine, whether I choose to dine-in or carry-out. The deep dish is of course worth getting, but the south side beef with sweet peppers and extra dipping gravy is my go-to.

The best Italian in the city, with the best house wine, the best atmosphere, and the best place for a good time. It can get a bit loud, but thats just because everyone is eating, drinking, and laughing. It's served family style, so order a variety to get a taste of everything (I love the gnocchi). Whether you're with one other person, or a big group you will have a good time. The bar is great for dining alone as well, and it is very family friendly. You have to make the treck to River North but its worth it. Take the redline to Chicago & State. Perfect for lunch or dinner, and pairs best with a walk around the neighborhood, admiring the skyscrapers.

Drinks & Nightlife

The Social Club/Community Bar atmosphere is great, without being too overwhelming. The patrons are fun, the music is great, and it is LGBT friendly.

Neighborhood gay bar, but very straight friendly. Good drink selection, good people, good atmosphere. The Glenwood is a staple of the community.

My favorite Gay bar, just 15 minutes away on the Redline—get off at the Addison stop in Wrigley, not the Belmont Stop, trust me.

Parks & Nature

Cleaner and less frequented as compared to the downtown beaches, which are flooded with highscoolers to take the train into the city from the suburbs. Mostly families, and lowkey Loyola University students cooling off, laying out, or getting an open water swim in. Lifeguards are on duty during normal beach-going hours. A running trail extends north along the beach. You can see the iconic Chicago skyline from the end of the pier. Come down at night (pre-midnight) to snag an instagram worthy shot of the city in all its glowy, hypnotic glory.

You can't visit Chicago without seeing the Cubbies!!! Take in a game or just visit the stadium and it's surrounding bars. Bleacher seats are cheap, and so is the beer. Depending on when you're in town, you can even take in a concert on the field.

Sightseeing

The Skydeck is terrifyingly awesome. Stand at the top of the Sears Tower (If you call it Willis everyone will know you're a tourist, don't do it!), on solid glass, looking straight down at the taxi's and buses below. It's like being in Wonder Woman's invisible airplane!
