Because it's nearby the ferry, with the best view over the water and Amsterdam and serve good food. Most beautiful beach / terrace of Amsterdam with a great view of the city across the harbor. Regular live music and you can sit at the fireplace. Special interior, made or sea containers.

On your biketour through the North of Amsterdam you can find this authentic cafe in a house from 1565, with many old objects and photos, showing the atmosphere of the past. They have a large terrace on the water (a side channel of t IJ), overlooking the harbor of Nieuwendam. This old café, next to a water lock, is owned by the neighbourhood.

Arts & Culture

Of course you end up in the red-light district, but if you are there, visit this beautifully hidden church museum.
STRAAT is a street that goes cross borders, from Amsterdam to New York, from São Paulo to Tokyo. But it’s also a street that goes across boundaries: it reunites under the same roof the variety of styles, shapes, techniques and narratives of the largest art movement of our times. There collection is made of artworks as big as walls, which were created here. In a former shipyard that is, by itself, a national monument. Entrance 18,50 p.p.

Ons' Lieve Heer op Solder is a shelter church and means literally Our Dear Lord in the Attic. It's a 17th-century canal-house, house church and museum in the city center of Amsterdam. The Catholic Church was built on the top three floors of the canal house during the 1660s. It is an important example of a "schuilkerk", or "clandestine church" in which Catholics and other religious dissenters from the seventeenth century Dutch Reformed Church, unable to worship in public, held services. The church has been open as a museum since 28 April 1888 and has 85,000 visitors per year. Ons Lieve Heer op Solder Oudezijds Voorburgwal 38, 1012 GD Amsterdam Open: Monday - Saturday 10 a.m. - 6 p.m. Sunday - 1 p.m. - 6 p.m. If you end up in the red licht district let this beautiful museum be your excuse. :-)

Parks & Nature

Want to have a break and relax after a few days in our hectic city? Visit our parks!
At walking distance from your guests room, at the end of our street is this almost undiscovered urban nature park. You meet mostly no people here but some very friendly Scottish Highlanders. It’s a peaceful place, we mostly walk our dog here.

London has Hyde Park, New York has Central Park and Amsterdam has Vondelpark. With the Vondelpark Open Air Theater as a shining centerpiece. This theater is known for its memorable performances in the summer months. From May to September there is a varied program every weekend with music, comedy, youth, dance and classical concerts. With the sun, the beautiful park and the good atmosphere there is something for everyone!

The Zonneplein in Tuindorp Oostzaan is perhaps Amsterdam's best kept secret. The idyllic square in the Amsterdam School style is hidden behind a real entrance gate. You will not only find shops and facilities, you will also find one of the oldest theaters in the city - still in the original style. The square has traditionally played an important role in "the village": culturally, socially and economically.

Amsterdam has a number of technology museums adressed to the young public. Most impressive among them is NEMO, a scientific center whose ship-like building dominates in Amsterdam old harbor, visible from the Central Station. Children may play here with science, experiment, explore.
