The food is not cheap, but it's a nice place to sit and have a drink (wine!) and see the real fake Rembrandt "Nightwatch" in the back of the room. Beware: some of the waitresses can be a bit grumpy.

Great Thai restaurant, also for takeout. They also have a delivery service for no extra charge (just give them a call at (0299) 655415) One of the best restaurants in the whole neighbourhood!

In Volendam (which is too touristic to our taste) you can hop on the boat to the beautiful former island (now peninsula) of Marken, where you can go to "Kerkbuurt" where you find lovely wooden houses.

In the winter this is the jazzclub, but in the summer you can enjoy the water(sports) and sit on the nicest terrace of Edam. Definitely my favourite spot in Edam, winter or summer.

Enjoy the beautiful peninsula of Marken and have a pancake or "poffertjes" in one of the little restaurants near the harbour after you've visited the neighbourhood around the church (kerkbuurt).

The famous Zaanse Schans, with a lot of windmills and wooden houses. And the first Albert Heijn (groceries) store, pancakesrestaurant and famous house of Czaar Peter the Great. Touristical, but nice!
