Located inside a small but very pretty park close to the city center Café Hacienda is a secret outdoor gem with a very local and relaxed atmosphere. One of my favorite places to meet with friends for a coffee after work, to work or just hang out on a sunny day.

If you haven't already heard about the free town of Christiania you will be amazed to discover this absolutely unique village inside Copenhagen. It's a self-proclaimed autonomous neighborhood of about 850 residents, covering 34 hectares (84 acres) in the borough of Christianshavn. There is a lot of things to see or do in Christiania (koncert venues, restaurants, bars and if you cross the bridge that connects the main part of Christiania with 'Dyssen' the less known and touristic part you'll discover a country style idyllic scenery with the most amazing selfmade houses. You wont believe that you are actually in a capital city. Christiania is absolutely a MUST see when you visit Copenhagen.

If you haven't already heard about the free town of Christiania you will be amazed to discover this absolutely unique village inside Copenhagen. Mentioned by several guides as one of the worlds best bars this glam cocktail joint is housed in a beautiful old apartment building. The unmarked door makes it hard to find but it's well worth the effort.

Café Intime is original in every way. Here you will meet an interesting mix of personalities, artist, and just friendly fun loving people. They often have a piano player and people that spontaneously get up and perform a song or two. A very friendly atmosphere where you are sure to meet new friends. However it is one of the few places where you can still smoke and the smoke can be a challenge even for a smoker.

While Mikkeller bar is the new hot spot for beer lovers, the 100 years old Vinstue 90 has a long lasting reputation for the best draft beer in town. I don't know if the reputation holds true, but if you want some history and local atmosphere you should definitely pop by Vinstue 90.

While the pedestrian shopping street 'Strøget' is a bit of a tourist trap it's next door neighbor the area around Larsbjørnsstræde - is the bohemian and artistic 'village', inside the city center. It has alway attracted artist, musicians, intellectuals and other personalities from all over the world and at the same time it has a very local vibe. If you look for bars and cafes check out 'The log lady', 'Bar 7' or 'Floss' (a notorious hang out for punks and rock musicians in the 80's). Here you find lots of curious shops in many categories. If you get hungry I warmly recommend Atlas Bar or L'education Nationale (although it's been a while since I was there).

Strongly influenced by the university campus around Nørre Alle´. Urban streetlife/streetstyle, tons of artsy shops, vintage, funky shops, cafes and bars. Its a fifteen minutes walk by the lakes away from my flat.... :-)
