Learn about and experience Alaska Native culture - take the shuttle bus from teh Visitor Center on 4th and F. Well worth it, but more than enough museum info for one day, don't try to combine with f.ex Anchorage Museum ... at least we don't recommend it -

Great monthly exhibits, some of the best and most cutting edge Alaskan art is exhibited here. Free entry, volunteer run, but short opening hours for the same reason. HIghly recommended. First Friday openings are a hoot !

The great hike that everyone must do - drive your rental car or hop on the bike shop van up to Glen Alps parking lot and hike up to the most spectacular view. Good shoes essential. Not for the faint hearted, some real scrambling necessary at the top, don't go further than you're 100% comfortable with, coz you need to get down again too. A real feat for the flatlanders, a regular family hike for the Alaskans.
