If you like modern architecture then visit the MAC, you can take a Ferry from Praca XV. Rio is peppered with Oscar Niemeyer buildings. There are some reasonable restaurants in old town Niteroi.

I recommend going to Arpoador to watch the sunset on Ipanema - you can watch the surfers play in the waves and the view is spectacular
