Burgermeister in Kreuzberg might just be one of the more interesting burger joints you’ll encounter in your life. Located in an old public toilet in Berlin Kreuzberg, this joint hits all the Berlin clichés you could ever ask for. Extraordinary location, open until early in the morning, cultural melting point for Berliners from all layers of society. In terms of fame, Burgermeister can be compared to Mustafa’s Gemüsedöner and it’s one of the few places in the city where you’ll always encounter a line. There is one important difference between Mustafa’s and Burgermeister, at Mustafa’s, only tourists get in line. At Burgermeister, everybody gets in line.

No matter if it is a spicy Oriental burger, a hearty Krautburger or the exotic-fresh bacon guacamole - next to the alltime classic burgers, Burgeramt on Boxhagener Platz in Friedrichhain offers a host of unusual burgers on their menu! If eat meet, try their chicken nuggets with a milk shake. Best in town A great deal of importance is placed on the quality of their meat - all their meat comes from regional producers in Brandenburg only. Order a nice helping of their lovely crunchy fries and gluttony is guaranteed.

Waterfloor and Mainfloor Club Watergate is divided into two area’s: Upstairs you can find the Mainfloor and the groundfloor is called the Waterfloor. The mainfloor is worth a visit because it probably has the coolest light-installation in Berlin. Almost the whole roof of this floor is one big discolight. Besides that, the quality of the sound is a bit better than downstairs if you ask me. Downstairs in the Waterfloor you have the possibility to chillout at one of the many benches and in the end the view is even cooler than upstairs here. This floor also gives you direct access to the terrace in the Spree.

Arts & Culture

The East Side Gallery ten minutes walk from the apartment is one of Berlin’s most historic landmarks that has also been turned into an artistic landmark. The gallery is located on Muehlenstrasse and is accessible from both Warschauer Strasse and Ostbanhoff. The 1.3 kilometre part of the Berlin Wall is the longest part that is still largely intact. The East Side Gallery is visited at all times of the day and night by visitors, locals, and people spilling out of the nearby clubs, such as Berghain or Watergate. Across the road sits Berlin’s largest arena, the Mercedes Benz Arena, which is used for many events in the city ranging from ice hockey to sold out concerts.

eeling nostalgic for Mario Kart or Pacman? If you’re missing your childhood, the Computer Games Museum might be the place for you. Take a virtually guided tour through over 60 years of interactive machinery, as well as a plethora of industry relics and the first next-gen simulators. The center also plays host to a variety of international events like International Games Week Berlin, and manages to attract a similarly international patronage.

Shopping

Every Sunday a large flea market is held on the Boxhagener Platz. Located in the heart of the vibrant student quarter around Simon-Dach-Strasse in Friedrichshain, it is a wonderful place to stroll and rummage around. You can find everything here, from books and furniture to household equipment and fashion. The stands are arranged around the square. There are numerous restaurants and snacks in the immediate vicinity of the market, while the meadow in the square’s centre is a great place to chill out after shopping. A visit to the flea market can be nicely combined with a Sunday brunch in one of the surrounding cafes.

An impressive socialist boulevard built by the GDR between 1952 and 1960 between Friedrichshain and Mitte, Karl-Marx-Allee was originally called Stalinallee, and was built to contain apartments for workers, and also shops, restaurants and cafés. The boulevard comes together in a large, impressive peak at Frankfurter Tor, which presents tourists with fantastic photo opportunities.
