Hawthorne is a fun quirky Portland neighborhood. We love the "Backstage bar" or "Quarter World". There are a lot of good restaurants and shop. It is situated between Division and Belmont, which are two other great streets to walk around.

N Mississippi Ave, is one of the best street in Portland. Especially between Prost (great German beer), and Por Que No (great tacos). Mississippi Studios is a small music venue, that is very intimate. There are a lot of bars, breweries, and food options on this street.

Starting at Burnside, NW 23rd Ave is a great district for shopping and restaurants. It is not too far from the renown Powell's City of Books.

There is a Starbucks and Black Rock coffee really close to our house, but Maplewood Coffee & Tea is our favorite coffee shop. The atmosphere is great, the food is good, drinks are delicious and the staff is very friendly. It is a great Portland neighborhood coffee shop.

We are less than 1hr away on I-5 to the famous Willamette Valley. With our easy access to the highway, it is easy to plan a day there. McMinnville is a great centrally located place to access vineyards and wine tastings. Their Aviation Museum is in my opinion the best museum in Oregon.

It is less than 2hrs from our house. You can ski there in the winter, or there are a lot of places to camp in the summer. It the location of the famous Timberline Lodge.

If you have already done the gorge and want to see other waterfalls, we would recommend the Silver Falls State Park. There is a nice hike with a few waterfalls, and it is just 1hr from our house.

The Gorge is about 40 minutes from our house, and offers some of the best hikes in Oregon. Multnomah Falls is one of them, but it is usually pretty packed.
