Food - Eating Out in Napier
Only 75 meters from the front door this is one of Napier's much-loved cafes. If you like great food made with quality ingredients then Smiths as the locals call it - is for you. The menu is not your bog standard eggs benedict etc so we recommend this place for true foodies who like to see some interesting alternatives to choose from. All delicious and great coffee and cabinet food.

Service is not always the best we'll be honest with you but hey that may have changed since our last meal there. Worth a go if you're a foodie.

This is very pricey Thai but exceptional. A limited number of dishes but all consistently exquisite if you’re happy to shell out a bit for what is usually a cheap cuisine. Fab interior design and quality service.

Shopping - Homewares
The owner of this fabric and homeware store is a master curator is all we can tell you. Honestly, you'd be hard pushed to find anywhere in Auckland with such an extensive range of exquisite fabrics and goods as this place. I have two cushions at the cottage made here. The fabric was $600 per meter but I couldn't resist.

This is a great swim, spa and gym complex. Lap pool plus a large family hot pool and smaller adult ones. Use the gym as a casual also. While it is now due for a large scale upgrade and is a little worn around the edges it’s still a great spot to exercise or soak in some hot water. Kids will love it. Steam room and sauna currently being refurbished. There is a cafe for food and coffee during the day.

Outside these hours for non-emergencies go over to The Doctors, 30 Munroe Street who operate 7 days a week. Call 111 in an emergency.

Wineries
A great spot for tastings and tapas or a cheeseboard just 200 meters from the cottage door! While there’s no rows of vines or the romance of visiting a local winery cellar door there are lots of wines there, great vibe and nibbles. Located in a beautiful old Art Deco building the interior fit out is a little budget in my opinion but worth going to for wines, vibes and staggering distance from the Doctor’s Cottage. Live music sometimes too.
