Slapton sands is breathtaking a long expanse of shingle with a steep shelving habit complete with marshland and lake inland containing pike and many types of fish and birdlife ,site of the tragedy of the practice D day landings and many American casualties the tank retrieved by my own brother and his mobile crane stands in honour as a tribute these men .

Slapton sands is breathtaking a long expanse of shingle with a steep shelving habit complete with marshland and lake inland containing pike and many types of fish and birdlife ,site of the tragedy of the practice D day landings and many American casualties the tank retrieved by my own brother and his mobile crane stands in honour as a tribute these men .
Fabulous reminder of the Art deco period,Burgh island was the setting for 10 little Indians by Agatha Christie and was visited by her ,take the fantastical sea tractor to the island and experience that five on Kirrin island feeling ,as well as the fab but expensive hotel there is also an older stone built pub which did fairly tasty food too .
