Mulligan's offers a wide variety of craft beers and a great food menu, their Sunday roast is highly recommended.

A quirky, sprawling pub packed full of oddities and a very random jukebox selection. Cosy and inviting in the winter months but also offers a large outdoor area where you can order excellent Vietnamese food.

Recently under new ownership Hyne's is a new favourite of mine. It has tonnes of charm, great drinks, and a really great beer garden. They do Irish language nights on Thursdays and traditional music on Sundays. There is also a food truck in the alley adjacent which serves dosa.

Bonobo is a very cool spot that specialises in craft beer and Napoletana style pizzas served in the trendy indoor bar or the spacious beer garden. It gets very busy and they take bookings so check availability.

Formerly the Front Lounge as it is still known among the regulars. A really great, really fun bar with a wide selection of drinks, good music and a relaxed atmosphere. It opens late on weekends when they open up the rear bar as a dance floor.

Mother has been going from strength to strength for over a decade and is one of the best clubs in the city. Hosted every Saturday night in Lost Lane, just tucked away on Grafton street, it's been my favourite club night since it started. The music is disco/alternative/electro-pop, the crowd are friendly and a good balance of different ages.

The exhibitions can be hit and miss so I would advise checking their website to see what's on, however it is still worth a visit to see the 17th-century architect and gardens mixed with modern art.

These guys started out as a small framing company in the city centre and have since opened one of the most interesting galleries in the city. They specialise in paint and print works from young and emerging artists.
Recently they have curated a large exhibition in a new space on Dame Street, details are on their website.

Oonagh Young's gallery and design studio is tucked away close to Connolly Station, beside the Lab art space. Frequently championing up and coming artists from all walks of life, she doesn't have a strong online presence so the best way to find out what's on is to just pop in if you are in the neighbourhood.
