Neighborhoods

Welcome to Greenpoint, the best neighborhood in Brooklyn! At Brooklyn's northern most tip, and very centrally located, you will find this neighborhood just minutes from Manhattan on the G train with amazing views, parks and even a ferry to watch it all in style as you commute into the city during the warmer months! With it's location on the East river, you can spend endless hours walking and exploring all this neigborhood has to offer with the iconic NYC city scape just across the water. As it's name suggests, we have three beautiful parks to get "your green on". Msgr. McGolrick, Transmitter and McCarren are all within walking distance from this apartment! Beyond the greens, this neighborhood is filled with tasty, trendy restaurants, coffee shops, unique and vintage shops, hipster haunts, friendly and diverse people and a Sunday Farmers Market. It's kind of like Williamsburg's big sister, with a more laidback and relaxed vibe. Speaking of Williamsburg, which borders Greenpoint, you have the world famous original foodie haven, Smorgasburg every Saturday. The list of things to do is endless with live music venues and vinyl shops, bars, bowling alleys, thrift and vintage shops another personal favorite, Nitehawk Cinema which screens the best indie films with a yummy food and cocktail menu. Back to Greenpoint, if you're an ice cream fan, you can't beat the original and now famous, Van Leeuwen Ice cream shop on Manhattan Avenue! It features vegan ice cream that is even better than dairy ice cream if you ask me! With additional locations in Williamsburg and Manhattan you should be able to try every flavor including the full dairy ice cream if you must! For more sweet treats, this part of Brooklyn is also famous for Peter Pan Donuts, which features giant cake like donut delicacies and other bake shops like Ovenly, whose sea salt dusted chocolate chip cookies started the craze! Through the spring, summer and fall, you can also enjoy our local farmers market on Sundays at McGolrick Park, which is only 1 block from the apartment. For your grocery needs, there is a Key Foods close by and a new Trader Joe's just opened only 1.5 miles away and a Whole Foods a 1.25 miles away. For those last minutes items or if you are just feeling too lazy to venture beyond there are also bodega shops steps away. Just around the corner from the apartment is the lush and lovely Msgr. McGolrick park with my personal favorites, Variety Coffee and Little Dokebi bordering it. Two more blocks away and you find neighborhood hotspots, Goldies and The Esthers where you can find great cocktails, pizza and other nibbles. And if you're into Polish food or curious to try, Greenpoint has a large Polish community which means unique food offerings from places like Karsczma, Christina's and Polka Dot. Take a look at my recommended lists for local food and drink scene, things to do and so much more! You never have to leave Greenpoint to enjoy NY living at it's best.
