City/town information
Chichester is the County town of West Sussex. The centre piece of the town is, undoubtedly the magnificent Cathedral. Inside the Cathedral you will find so many ancient treasures as well as a glorious stained glass window by Marc Chagall.
Also the ancient Cross sited at the centre of the compass layout of the pedestrianised town centre is a local landmark.
There are a myriad of cafés and restaurants in the town.
The renowned Pallant Gallery is found in the architecturally interesting Pallants just a short walk from the centre.
There is the Chichester Festival Theatre which rivals any West End offering!
Just a few minutes out of town you will find Goodwood Estate, home to the Duke of Richmond. There is not only the elegant Goodwood House but the Racecourse, Aerodrome and motor race track, Goodwood farmshop, Goodwood golf course and the Goodwood Park Hotel. Annual events such as The Festival of Speed, Goodwood Revival and Glorious Goodwood make the area a must visit.
Chichester Harbour encompasses so many gems, such as Bosham, Itchenor, West Wittering with it's incredible beach and Pagham for the bird life. It is a must visit for sailors and lovers of the sea.
Inland, the South Downs National Park has so many lovely villages and Hamlets with magnificent walks and charming country pubs.

Sightseeing
One of Europe's oldest yew forests. Now managed by the National Trust. A beautiful walk through this ancient forest and up to the top of the South Downs with views across to the Isle of Wight.

Walk up from the village of Lavant or park closer to the top adjacent to Goodwood racecourse. There are amazing 360 views from the very top of the racecourse, Downs villages, Chichester across to the Isle of Wight. On a clear day you can see the Spinnaker Tower in Postsmouth.

Walk up from the village of Lavant or park closer to the top adjacent to Goodwood racecourse. There are amazing 360 views from the very top of the racecourse, Downs villages, Chichester across to the Isle of Wight. On a clear day you can see the Spinnaker Tower in Postsmouth.
A great place for a walk and to blow the cobwebs away! The beach has a pre pay car park. Booking definitely required in the summer months.
There are public loos and a café.
You can walk all the way around to East Head, which is a National Trust managed site with sand dunes, rare plants and a beach only reachable by boat or on foot. A great place for a picnic.

Just spectacular! The still lived in Castle that is home to the Duke of Norfolk. There are many things organised during the year, including a tulip festival, Medieval jousting, outdoor theatre to name a few. Check out their website to see what's on.
