Plaza de Mayo is the oldest public square in Buenos aires. Has been the scene of many of the most important events in the city's history, from the second founding of the city in 1580, through the revolution of independence.
The square is named after the Argentine revolution, which began on May 25, 1810. Around the square are several important buildings: the Cabildo (colonial government seat building), the Metropolitan Cathedral (mausoleum of General San Martin) and Casa Rosada (national government seat).
Personal advice: go there while the Granaderos (General San Martin guardians) are doing the daily change of guard. The schedule is: 07:00, 09:00, 11:00, 13:00, 15:00, 17:00, 19:00 y 21:00 hs. It's a great military demonstration.

Best Pizza: there is a never ending fight between two places (Las Cuartetas) and (Banchero). Both of them say they are the creators of "Fugazzeta Rellena" (a thing you definitely should try). You decide which one is better!
