Plaza de Mayo is the oldest public square in Buenos aires. Has been the scene of many of the most important events in the city's history, from the second founding of the city in 1580, through the revolution of independence. The square is named after the Argentine revolution, which began on May 25, 1810. Around the square are several important buildings: the Cabildo (colonial government seat building), the Metropolitan Cathedral (mausoleum of General San Martin) and Casa Rosada (national government seat). Personal advice: go there while the Granaderos (General San Martin guardians) are doing the daily change of guard. The schedule is: 07:00, 09:00, 11:00, 13:00, 15:00, 17:00, 19:00 y 21:00 hs. It's a great military demonstration.

This is one of the oldest Cafés in town. Cafe Tortoni opened its doors in 1858 and still preserves its XIX century ambience, the excellency in attention by the staff, and the Buenos Aires gastronomic proposals. Personal advice: ask for "churros con chocolate" (house speciality)

Obelisco is an historic monument and now an icon of Buenos Aires. It was built up in 1936 in commemoration of the first city foundation in 1536, by Pedro de Mendoza. Take pictures as a local, not as a tourist: go to the panoramic viewpoint located just a few meters away, at the diagonal. That's the best view to take some pics.

Corrientes avenue is an iconic walkway, loaded with bars, theaters and pizza restaurants. It's a famous place since it's been the cradle of tango artists like Carlos Gardel and contains a lot of night life options and shows. Best Pizza: there is a never ending fight between two places (Las Cuartetas) and (Banchero). Both of them say they are the creators of "Fugazzeta Rellena" (a thing you definitely should try). You decide which one is better!

Between the fancy neighborhood of Puerto Madero and Rio de la Plata it is located the first Protected Natural Area of Buenos Aires. Just a few blocks from the downtown, on its 350 acres includes lagoons, woods of national trees and typical pampa pastures. Take a look at the local fauna: by taking the time and walking carefully and quietly, the local fauna will appear. Birds, eagles, lizards and "coipos", the south american otters (these last ones can be seen at the big lake, swimming in groups, it's just a matter of luck to see them).
