This park provides a lovely boardwalk around Three Sisters Springs to view the manatees from above. The manatee season at Crystal River NWR begins in mid-November and ends in late March. During the winter months, manatees come to the springs to conserve the energy necessary to survive the cold Gulf waters. Sometimes hundreds will gather there to stay warm. During Spring and Summer, you may or may not see any manatees there.

The six-mound complex is one of the longest continuously occupied sites in Florida. It has a nice museum as well. The Museum is open from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Thursday through Monday. (Closed on Tuesday and Wednesday.)
