The Horse & Jockey in Binegar is a short car ride from our home. It is a nice walk too but not too good with a full tummy! This is a friendly locals pub we enjoy their Sunday lunches, they do a large & a small, reasonable price, excellent Sunday dinner. This place is very popular so it is advisable to book in advance. Awarded 'Taste of the West' Gold award 2018/2019, the café is open Monday to Friday 9am - 3 or 4pm (seasonal), (breakfast till 11.15 & lunch) and Saturday Breakfast 9am - 2pm. They serve homemade food, locally sourced where possible. A great place to eat and always busy, so advisable to book.

We highly recommend the food which is of excellent quality and well presented. They also sell gift items including top quality 'Basilur' teas, usually sold in Harrods, in presentation boxes.

It's just like being on the Orient Express! Best of all, the food is really good.
This is our 'Local' being just a few minutes walk from the house. They serve basic pub food, but it's nice with good portions. There is a nice atmosphere and the staff are friendly.

The smallest city in the UK - Visit the magnificent Cathedral and the Bishop's Palace - see the shops, pubs, tearooms and restaurants, also outdoor markets are held in the square on Wednesdays and Saturdays and there is a Food Festival in October every year.

Visit the caves - there are also pubs, tea rooms, shops, see the Cheddar Yeo, a small river that runs through the village. Don't forget to taste the cheese and a drop of Somerset cider.

Longleat House is the home of the 8th Marquess and Marchioness of Bath. As well as taking a guided tour around the house you can take drive through the magnificent safari park and see The Lions of Longleat, tigers, rhinos, monkeys (mind out for your car aerial) and all kinds of wild animals. This is not a quick visit, you will need a whole day to see everything, but it is well worthwhile.

Hayes WaySpend a day at the Museum. See exhibits from more than a century of aviation history before going to the hanger where you can see, and actually get inside, the very last Concorde to fly. Learn about the history of Concorde and the part Aerospace Bristol took in it's development. It's very educational and a wonderful experience for adults and children alike. This is a good place to go on a wet day.
Spend a day-out at the seaside, with golden sandy beaches, piers, kiss-me-quick hats, fish and chips and a funfair. This is the place to go on a sunny day for a visit to the Grand Pier, go for a walk along the promenade or dip your toes in the sea. For children there is the Water Adventure Play Park, a secure adventure playground with a wooden Play structure and an aquatic playground with sprinklers. There is also a helicopter museum. Lots to do on a sunny summers' day.

We have friends who visit for scuba diving at Vobster Quay, it's only a short drive away from Chilcompton. We have suitable facilities for hanging wetsuits and diving gear. Please bring your own hangers.
