A nearby lighthouse is Bodie Island Lighthouse. It is a great adventure for families with beaches nearby. Lifeguards may not be stationed on these more remote beaches.

Healthy and tasty fresh juice and smoothies are just part of the menu here. The Acai bowl was delicious, and I loved the toast with avocado and microgreens. Amy and her staff are very friendly and helpful.

This is my favorite breakfast spot. Whether you like grits or the typical bacon, eggs, and pancakes, you will enjoy breakfast at Grits Grill. The shrimp and grits plate is one of my favorite entrees; it is cooked to perfection with no shrimp tails to peel.

Relax, you're on beach time!
Dare County’s beautiful beaches sometimes have rip currents. Monitor lifeguard warnings at Weather.gov/safety/ripcurrent. Closest handicap access to beach is at Ocean Bay Beach Access. An interactive map is available at https://community. darecountync.gov. Local events are posted on OBXtoday.com and OBXthisweek.com. Learn each town's rules for pet beach access. Digging in the sand is fun, but deep holes can be dangerous to people and wildlife; please fill in holes before you leave. View but stay away from turtle nests and wild horses. Don't forget sunscreen! Have fun and enjoy your stay!
